I got a server and it is more stable in rush mode conquest crashes more
 
you guys really need to read the thread. the manually updating of punkbuster has fixed a lot of peoples connection/kicked problems.
 
I'm going to be playing it in 1080P on my projector on a 106inch screen this weekend, look for the video on youtube :D
 
Searched the thread and didn't see anything about it, but what are the "collectibles" in single player? So far all I can figure out is once you find them they end up in the supply crates? Is there any other point to them? Also any advantage to getting all of the m-coms in the single player levels?
 
People really need to talk in the squads! TF2 endless chatter most of the time useful and sometimes just funny. Please if you can mic up and lets talk strategy. I know the game is new and the maps aren't familiar yet but lets figure out how to take objectives. Other than that it's a fantastic game. Also what settings are people at 1900x1200 I seem to get around 40fps. Medium shadows and 2x AA 2x AF and HABO on everything else on high. I would love to get this up to 60 FPS. May need to overclock that CPU.

Does anyone know the significance, if any, of the stars (bronze, silver, gold, etc) marked on each weapon? Do they give any performance boosts or are they purely cosmetic?

Does aiming down the sights actually make the gun more accurate? It seems firing from the hip is just as accurate.

Other than the semi/auto sniper rifles, is there a point in using anything other than the M24 or M95? Seems the SV98 is just flat out worse than those two and the GOL is just redundant.

Turn off HBAO and you'll see 60 fps with very little IQ loss.

pretty sure it's just measure of the amount of kills done on a weapon

Our clan talks it up in Ventrilo instead of in-game. sooo yea.... :)

We probably should do it in-game, I'll bring it up in our next staff meeting...

Pick up any enemy weapon and it goes into your collection. Once it is in your collection you can select any of those weapons from the supply crates throughout the map.
 
Anyone know what can / can't hurt vehicles?

I know that C4 / RPG's are designed for taking down tanks,etc. ... but would lobbing a nade or shooting a grenade from your assault rifle be pointless?

I would love to use my mic in this game, however it does not work on the PC version for some reason.

I have the latest XFI drivers, and my mic works in other online pc games, just not this one for some reason.

:(

Voice chat comes in really handy when i play this on PS3, where the voice chat works just fine.
 
how do you get pings on the servers?

people are saying turn off HBAO ...what is that ?
 
sparks, you gotta run the game as admin in win7 if you don't the pings don't show up... really lame but yea..

It's under the advanced video options. You should have a drop-down menu that consists of low, med, high, and advanced. If you click advanced you should be given the option to turn HBAO on or off.
 
Would be interested to hear your opinions about the comparison between MW2 and BFBC2's multiplayer modes. From this particular review, his verdict is that BC2 is the superior multiplayer game.
 
Does anyone know of a place that is hosting a mirror of the most recent patch for this game? Everytime I try to auto patch it tells me the file can not be found.
 
Wonder what happened to the 'My Soldier' section of the website...yesterday it said it would retrieve my stats in '88 minutes'...

grenades thrown and shot from your gun are great for jeeps and quads. You can hurt armored vehicles with them, but its pretty minimal so its only worth it if you know that a tank or whatever is really low on health.

How do you get it to display FPS?
 
Not a good start, unable to connect to any UK servers, looks like it may connect but stays in the server browser and goes nowhere. CTD once when using the server browser.

Managed to get onto a two games but got a connection to game lost error on the first game after about 10 minutes and the second game was laggy and unplayable

I spent most of the last few nights looking at that stupid screen and not playing because it wouldn't populate, I agree with you this shit sucks

Same here. I've had the game for about 48 hours and haven't been able to play online yet!

I FINALLY got online last night. The server I was able to connect to only had 4 people playing, so it was 2v2, but it was awesome none the less. :) Hope I can connect again today.

Anyone having trouble adding servers to your favorites list? Minor but annoying problem. :eek:
 
Can't even find a single server right now. Either "can't connect to EA servers", "unable to find", or "waiting for data."

Frustrating, to say the least..

Yep.. No damn problems last night at all.. Played about 6 hours with out any issue. Get home from work and now no servers... AGAIN...
 
Ok I have a question about the campaign. I have been stuck on this mission "No One Gets Left Behind" for several hours. You are looking over the cliff, you kill everyone in the camp, but for what ever reason I can't advance from there even after everyone is dead. What the hell am I doing wrong?
 
for what its worth I ave been having connection problems since tues night... today I went home at lunch, deleted all my BFBC2 beta folders (in mydocs and game folders) then did the manual PB update.. and I was able to game for 1hr straight with no kicks... loving this game!!
 
I connect just fine every time and I never had to adjust ports.

not noob at all. In BFBC2 you actuaaly have to be precise at aiming the grenades.. the hit box is small. Also if youre within melee range and try to shoot a grenade it will always dud.

If youre being killed by grenade launchers you are being killed by a skilled shooter.

this, I smoked quite a few noob cannons today, the bounced them right of me at close range and I blasted them.

You have to precisely aim everything, the only problem is that bullets don't have splash damage, and one shot from the tube is a guaranteed kill. Also, I was playing last night and a friend shot a 40mm at me and killed me from no more than about 10 feet away.
