I've been looking for 4 weeks now for a 5970 and I'm on quite a few notify lists. Has anyone had any luck finding this video card. My wife is going in for back surgery at the end of March some I will be working from home and would like to have this card before then so I can set up an eyefinity system. This will make my work much easier at home for the 2 months I need to work from home.

She's told me to purchase 2 5870's, but I prefer getting the 5970 if I can find it in the next 2 weeks. Does anyone know if the availability will increase shortly?

Joe

I've been checking newegg every day just for kicks, havent seen any new ones in weeks but every few days for just a hour or so a open box one will pop up for 510-530$, I've come so close but I'm on the "microstutter is real" side of the fence and I couldn't deal with the 2x5850's I had and from what I understand the 5970 would be no different right?

uh... don't know about that, but 5970 got rid of one of the stutter point in Crysis when I had my GTX 295/4890CF..

btw, there are some in trade section of this forum, you could look it up..

I bought mine back in few week few months for 700 bucks, so good luck finding one.

I would rather get a 5970 than a 5870CF, its cheaper... :p

Got two XFX Black Edition in stock here in NZ but @ 978 USD they not really a bargin :) acutally looking at that EBAY price maybe not that bad lol

Will be announced at CeBIT....Sapphire and ASUS will both have one (non reference versions)....

ASUS 5970 4GB version is the MARS edition IIRC... which will have insane price...

and for Sapphire 5970, I wouldnt dare to buy their product until they change have better Customer Services / Warranty policy.

also, it will be more harder to find than the original 5970, and lot more expensive..

wow thumbs up for the wife. Hope her surgery goes OK, we need more women like this.

:D ... (but seriously all the best)

but yeah, I've got a friend whose in a similar situation. All I can think of is just hit the auto-notify and camp.

I feel your pain, went on newegg and did auto notify and always checked nowinstock. I noticed that products would come up there before I got the email from newegg. Just be ready once it comes in, I got my Asus a few weeks ago and returned my 5870. Goodluck

new egg says tomorrow the saphire will be in stock 3/2 for the dimond, and 3/4 for the asus.

i got 3 over the last month, you just have to check newegg few times a day, all of them were bought early, like 8-9 am EST

Sapphire's been pretty good to me with their warranty on my 4870X2. I showed them the original receipt from Newegg, and I've already gotten 2 RMAs for various issues.

they won't need to worry about depleting old stock of the 5970 when the new model is released

Im here on the same boat its been a month since Ive ordered mine at a local retail store, they told me they will notify me when can I come up for pickup... still waiting here :/

I checked the microcenter website everyday and my diligence finally paid off one day.. I got a 5970 for $599 local pickup w00t!

I started looking for one about three weeks ago. I had no luck online and many sites are price gouging on their 5970's. After 3 days or so of searching I found one at a local Microcenter for $599.99. Of course I bought it on the spot.

yes it was, last week.

i dont know why people bash Fermi so bad when this card hasnt been available since launch.

People bash fermi so bad because it doesn't exist yet, and is terribly late. Say what you like about kinda poor availablity, I saw an asus 5970 on the egg not 10 minutes ago, and my local microcenter had one in stock three days ago when I went for 599.

I wanted fermi, but couldn't get it, and still can't, so I bought 3x5870 instead. Easily available whenever and wherever I wanted to procure them from. With a little dilligence, 5970s can be had just as readily.

I highly doubt we'll see gtx480s at retail for upward of 2 - 3 months after release. Thats why people bash fermi. No hardware, no real numbers, just more and more PR with no product. People actually HAVE 5970s.

Holy Taff balls...

In the UK, overclockers have 10+ of the XFX Black 5970 for £580 a piece, raw translation to US that's $868, and ebuyer have 3 of the Sapphires OC for only slightly less...

Man I'm glad I managed to find mine on release day put in at RRP before the price gouging kicked in, snatched mine for £443 ($663) :D

I usually won't spend the money on pre-overclocked versions of any card. I can pocket the extra cash and overclock the thing myself.

I used the NowInStock like someone mentioned on here and on monday while at work the alarm went off and the Sapphire HD 5970 was in stock at NewEgg. I went there and purchased it immediately.

It arrived today. I must say, "WOW" the box is huge. My current video card is an EVGA 8800 GT. This thing is huge compared to it and it won't fit in my case at all.

Now I'm waiting for the HAF 932 Limited Edition case I also ordered. I ordered that last week and I'm still waiting for it.

Amazing, I order the video card on monday and recieved it before my case.

I'm hoping to have all my components by monday/tuesday of next week so I can build my new system.
