XFX GTX 480 shows up for preorder

And i'll be marrying virgin twins who service my every desire in the morning...

/deep sarcasm.

NV are screwed this year and they know it.

hahahhahahahhahahhahhahhahahahhahahahahahahaahha

Oh man i'm rolling ... Nvidia right back at their old games. Much higher price than the competition that they are no better than. Man I hope they fail.

The only way this week could get any better is when they announce GTX285s are now called GTX440.

Looks like the joke of a page was pulled? lol.
@bigdogchris, you do realize that that page was probably just a joke right? lol.

Fuck I only got to page 4 before they wiped out all the other pages there was alteast 12 when I checked this morning booo those comments were some of the funniest ones i've ever seen on the internet. I wonder if anyone cached them all?

If the strongly rumoured performance is reality, if Fermi is only close to 58xx performance it would be breathtakingly optimistic (or arrogant) for Nvidia to launch at the sort prices previously seen. I wouldn't rule out $600-$700 price points altogether, but with roughly equivalent ATi cards that would be at much lower prices only the most die hard Nvidia fans are going to stump up that sort of cash. That's why I think Nvidia will target $299/$399 - I don't actually believe it will happen in reality, I'm sure street prices will go much higher as happened with 5850.

At the same time, if Fermi is a limited run then the high price point would allow Nvidia to recoup some of the loss while still selling all the cards. You know people will pay the price, if only because its Nvidia, or it has PhysX + CUDA, or for F@H. I could even see them launching at the high price, waiting a month, and then slashing the price so that the early adopters and fanboys get screwed.

Here's a thought, maybe it's worth $699? What if it's 100x faster than the 5970?

Price/performance goes out the window when you get to high end hardware. It could very easily cost $600-700 and only be 20% faster than the 5870. People paid a $200-300 premium for the 8800 Ultra, and that was just an overclocked 8800GTX that was maybe 10% faster.

rip off. I bought 280 gtx and 285 gtx comes along cooler and faster. I think I will sit and watch till 2nd gen.

every one here missed the post about XFX not getting any GF100s over a month ago i see
fake pre-order is FAKE

Not only that, the memory amounts SCREAM fake. The GF100 has 6 64-bit memory controllers, which is a memory bus total of 384 bits wide (like the 8800GTX).

Given that, the card would have to have 12 or 24 GDDR5 chips, and that means the memory capacity would be 1.5 GB or 3.0 GB (for 12 or 24 chips, assuming 1 Gbit GDDR5).

The 1GB and 2GB memory amounts in these fake product pages are just lazy :D

No it doesn't, it sounds dead on for a new high end big GPU launch from Nvidia. The price is right in line with, say, every high end GPU they've release for the last 5 years, give or take.

6800 Ultra: $600
7800 GTX: $600-650
8800 GTX: $600
8800 Ultra: $800
GTX 280: $650

Notice a trend?

Exactly. Pretty much expected.
I would be surprised if the card launched under $600.

GTX 470 - $500
- Would be only 20-25% faster than GTX 285 -> would lose against HD 5870 with clear margin
- $100 more expensive than HD 5870

GTX 480 - $600
-Close to HD 5970 performance
-Has the same TDP as HD 5970

Something is waaay off with those estimates. If the GTX 470 loses to the 5870, there is no way in hell the GTX 480 comes anywhere close to 5970 performance.

And remember the whole pricing issue of the 280s, starting off that high. Companies were issuing credit to customers because there was a price drop not too much after the release.

The high-end NV cards are always priced higher than AMD, but we'll see what happens.

I lose faith in humanity when i see some people taking those price points seriously.

If this is true NVIDIA should go fuck themselves, why price a card higher than a cheaper product if its slower? WTF? We all know NVIDIA likes to rip off people with their high prices but this is bullshit. GTFO NVIDIA if this is true

Got this from NVIDIA just now:

Hi, we have received many questions on this. Hope the following statement clarifies things:

“NVIDIA and our launch partners have not released pricing or pre-order information yet. Any Web sites claiming to be taking pre-orders should not be considered legitimate.”

Feel free to post this at will.

Thanks!

Not too long ago i remember seing a news headline here on [H[ardOcp that NVidia was dropping XFX as a vendor? whats the deal with that, i guess they changed their mind?
