I've been hearing a lot of news about Catalyst 10.2 and the upcoming 10.3 drivers in terms of how it helps multi-GPU and Eyefinity users but what about single card users (my 5870 for example)...are we being left out of the party?...anyone have any info about performance improvements with single cards?...while I'm glad for the driver improvements I'm hoping that ATI has not forgotten about us 'low end' single card owners

You can read the release notes to see the improvements for single-GPU non-Eyefinity set ups. They did some fixes to RE5 in Win7, had a few program improvements.

but those improvements pale in comparision to the Crossfire and Eyefinity ones...I was hoping for something to match the features that Eyefinity/Crossfire users are getting...single card users still make up the vast majority of video card users so hopefully they don't foget about us

Single card, single monitor set ups don't need those huge improvements done to them.

you're kidding right?

No. Outside of the grey screen issue there doesn't seem to be that many big issues with the 5-series cards. Crossfire profiles have been the bane of any multiGPU user since ATI first implemented it,

there are still issues/bugs that require fixing...but even without those fixes they can always look to increase performance in specific games...Crossfire users are getting something like a 45% increase in DiRT 2 (and other games as well) with the Cat 10.2's...so I'm thinking that they can work on giving us single card owners some nice performance gains in our games as well

So does 10.2 fix the grey screen issue? I didn't see it in the release notes......

THE SINGLE CARD MODE IS ALREADY OPTIMIZED. THEY DID THIS WITH CAT RELEASES BACK IN FALL/WINTER.

since the 5000 series just came out in September 2009 there is no way they optimized the drivers for them back in Fall 2009

the 10.2 drivers are probably the first drivers written specifically for the 5000 series of cards...drivers take awhile to mature...so relax

That wasn't what I said. What I was saying is that other configurations have bigger issues to take care of and there aren't as many big issues dealing with the standard configuration.
