I was checking out NewEgg and noticed the new Antec NEO ECO 520C PSU and was wondering if anyones had any experience with this PSU yet? A single 40a +12v rail and 1x 6-pin and 1x6+2 pin for $60 shipped seems kinda nice on paper.

It's a Seasonic unit. There are no reviews for it yet as far as I know, but it's a pretty safe bet since basically everything Seasonic makes nowadays is good.

Dude I have it and I freaking love it, It's SO QUIET I have to put my ear up to the back of my case to know that it's on. I did not know it was a Seasonic unit man that's freaking awesome to know!!! I was going to grab up the 650TX but I didn't entirely need that much juice for now and saw the $60 dollar sweet deal in this baby too so I grabbed it. :D

The only thing I can hear out of my case now is my Freezer 7 at idle speed.

That's funny, I just ordered one on newegg about 2 hrs. ago. I'll be using it with the hardware in my sig now. This is part one of a gradual upgrade and eventually, I'll have newer stuff paired with it.

Looks like a nice unit, wish it were modular though.
Would've been perfect in the HTPC I'm putting together.

I just had my friend purchase this with the Antec 300 case because newegg had a combo deal. I needed a case and psu for him on a budget. A review stated it need to be flipped upside down in this case. I found that odd. Anything "weird" about this psu form factor?

Deal for interested parties:

I'll do the build this week if I can provide any answers for you.

There's nothing strange about the PSU's form factor. Since it uses a side-mounted 120mm fan rather than a rear-mounted 80mm fan, it's best to mount the PSU with the fan pointed into the case and not toward the bottom, so it has access to more fresh air.

Thanks man. Newegg images were on the fritz. It looks like most psus would have to be mounted this way including my own corsair 850TX.

Sounds like a good deal on the psu and with $20 combo discount if you need a cheap case. Heh, my friend usually drives a hard bargain. He asked newegg if they'd give him a discount for being a first time buyer. They gave him $25 off and all he ordered was the combo and a 500GB F3 HDD!

i put an antec neo eco 430w or whatever in an htpc. it seemed very comparable to the corsair 650tx besides the wattage rating of course. both virtually silent, neither of them make a noise when turning on and your really do have to be in a quiet room and have your head right on the case to hear it working. theyre also both considerably heavy, which usually means good things in quality products.

Just picked this one up myself. Though the computer I am building for my guestroom could use a smaller power supply, this is the only one (for the price, after discount and rebate) that came with a good pedigree.

I just finished reading an exhaustive review on it, where the guy ran very thorough stress-testing, and it's a thumbs-up all the way.

By the way, I've got three Antec 300's, and it's the case, not the power supply, that requires the power supply to be mounted that way... All work well for me.

Just ordered one of these in an Antec 300 case combo from Newegg. This is to power a AMD Athlon II X4 3.0GHz + GTX460 system. Will post back here once it is up and running.

whoops! yeah the psu is up and running now :) no complaints at all, all of the cables reached, the sleeving was good, I checked a molex connector with a multimeter and the voltages were very close to being dead on. the fan makes no noticeable noise and the unit barely gets warm.
