Ok, I've said it a million times but it's always relevant to my posts. I live in CHILE. It makes getting hardware a nightmare etc.

I couldn't buy distilled water today. I got something that says "pure water" I hope it doesn't do something bad.

it's free of sodium, it's been osmosised (however the term is) it has .3mg of calcium and .04 of magnesium. Other than that it's pure good ol' water.

This set off any red flags or don't worry about it?

Do I get to be the guinea pig on "pure water"?

Thanks guys, you're invaluable!

.3mg of calcium x how many servings go in your system = how much calcium deposits there will be stuck to the inside of your parts. Good luck.

Who knows?!?! You are adding an anti-bacterial something or other, right? Just say "yes".

The Ca and Mg will drive the pH a bit to the basic side depending on what else is in there, probably fine but...

It doesn't take much to build a makeshift still - you could use a pressure cooker, tubing, and receiver jar to distill the water you have.

putting silver in it, It is gonna cost me 30 bucks and 3 weeks to get a kill coil so I'm just going to buy a pure silver necklace or something for less and throw it in the rez. Should be an interesting experiment. I could probably go to the biggest grocery store they have here and check for distilled water.

Thanks for the advice entropist, I might as well do that, it's not tough, girlfriend's mom has a pressure cooker I could use. It's just as simple as boiling it and condensing it right? Run the vapor through the tube and it drips out as water and everything is happy?

Thanks for the input guys.

Im not sure if you can do this in Chile, but U can always go to your nearest highschool and buy some distilled water from the chemistry department.

I have a high school about half a block away (seriously don't tell my parole officer). I could run over there and ask them. That is a good point. Trying to deal with Chileans is a fucking nightmare though. I could link you my ebay page where I say no to an offer of $400 for an iphone I'm selling and in the next 24 hours I get 7 offers for less money. It's impossible to give money away in this country too. If I walk over there and offer then 5 bucks for half a liter of water they will probably say no because they don't have a way to give me a receipt. The ISP wouldn't connect my internet because they said the floor I live on doesn't exist.

It's a damn good idea though and actually closer than the super market. I might do that.

Thanks.

If you have to distill your own water, just use a radiator to cool it off. run the tube into one of the fittings so it fills the rad with steam, then the rad condenses the steam much faster and you just collect the drips out the bottom of the rad.

Don't do that if you bought a brand new rad or even a used one. Clean out the rad first because flux, and other gross stuff are inside when they made it or from sediments that have built up from being used.

Really doesn't work because your supposed to use distilled water to clean it out anyways.

Distill your own water. Pressure cooker, pot with lid, whatever. Just boil water and use something to cool and collect the steam. Hell just a pot with a peice of aluminum foil 6-12" over it creased in the middle and hanging over a bowl on one side would work.

Thanks for all the good info guys, I found out I could buy a liter for 80 cents 2 blocks away, turns out the only place they sell it is the gas station by my house. I've got a pretty awesome poll I'm about to throw up in 10 min or so though so standby.
