yeah i was trying to do this earlier with someone else but for some off reason my credit card wont let me upgrade WoW. im wondering if its cause servers are down or im going to have to go down to the store and buy a copy and do it that way

It's God telling you to stay away.

Seriously though, stay away the amount of gear-Nazis in WoW is truly staggering.
Looking for <insert class here> for <insert 10 or 25 man here>. Must have done fight at least a dozen times, link achievement page! Must be able to crit for at least 50k, link your gear!

Etc, etc.

I should have taken an SS of this, but the Tuesday that ICC was released, I saw this:

/2 LFM ICC 10, link achieve or no response

So I whispered the guy /w Link me your achievement, I don't want to go with some fail group

He responded /r I haven't done it...
/w no shit, it was released to day how do you expect anyone to have it yet?
/r uhhhh
/w lol idiot
you are ignored

Trade chat ripped him apart too...that part of the game, link achieve, Gear score, etc.. has gotten out of hand imo, but the game itself is still a lot of fun.

LFM Ony 10 must have 5k GS... Seriously? It's just Ony, not that freaking hard...Too many people look to over-gear everything and forget to have fun.

EDIT: To the OP, what type of server are you looking for? Alliance or Horde? etc...

Don't mean to stray off topic too, but I guess it's just the easiest solution to trying to quickly find people who don't fail. Certainly doesn't always work, but there's no quick and clear way to quantify "competence." I'm not a big fan on how things are shaping up either, but it's just the way things are at the moment.

Yeah that stuff has gotten ridiculous. It's a pretty big bummer really.

However, I've been having fun on my alt mage that just hit 80, queue for random forge of souls/pit of saron/halls of reflection, fast runs and decent gear for 5 mans. Haven't played in a week or so though.

One of my friends just does "LFM <instance>, no down-syndrome please". It actually works surprisingly well.

On par with the DPS / damage meter / gearscore elitists running rampant in the game are all the people running random heroics who insist on chain pulling everything gogogo hurry up stop waiting go now quick fast I am in a hurry buffoons. It's not a damned race. Slow down. Take your time. Do the instance right.

Not kidding. Had a tank who chain pulled the first 10 groups in UP, always heading off to grab the next group before the first group was dead, then ended up pulling 3 full groups at once, got everyone in the group killed, whined that I didn't keep him healed, and quit the group. Screw that. If you can't pull intelligently or go at a reasonable pace, I'm not healing you.

Also had a hunter in a PoS group, ride all the way through to the stairs for the first boss, then feign, and just laid there waiting for the rest of the group to reach him so he didn't have to clear any trash. The dungeon finder is the best and the worst thing to happen in the last 6 months.

Yeah things have gotten out of hand with this gearscore crap, and thus in trade chat i make fum of them calling ir the Epeen score! That seems to get people riled up :) . Also i am a Pally Tank and there is nothing more frustrating then people getting infront of me and pulling groups when i say wait or not ready!! For the love of the gods please listen to your tank if he knows the instance well.

wow all these comments lol. i downloaded the 10 dat free trial and ive been playing it for a couple of days and 2 be honest. im not having any fun at all its like the WoW factor is just gone and on top of it i found myself while leveling spending way 2 much time on the game.

thanks for the comments and good reads above but i dont see myself returning like i thought.

Yea it seems pretty staggering to try and level from 1-80 to get into the endgame. If you find yourself hating leveling up, you should probably call it quits. Don't force yourself to spend days' worth of game time leveling up if you're not genuinely enjoying it. I've been guilty of convincing one of my friends to level all the way to 70 in TBC because I kept telling him that the endgame was where it was at. He hated leveling, and probably shouldn't have had any business in MMOs to begin with.

I've stopped again. The whole ICC gear chasing thing is just retarded. We didn't raid for the last two weeks in December and I haven't gone back since. I requested a downgrade from raider to member, I just got bored with the game again.

So I play COD:MW2, my guitars and soon my DW's.

I play pretty casually now, I raid when I can, but i don't commit to it and made that fact well known to the guild. I have raided a few times with them, and to be honest, I am shocked that we/they've progressed as far as we have. I forget how much more "tuned" the raids are now. (I remember when raids were not so forgiving to mistakes...Looking at you AQ40, Gruul and Mag pre-nerfing)

Lately, I've just been doing daily dungeon on my main, then on my level 80 alt, then playing my druid for a bit. After about 3 hours, I shut it down.
(I play 2 to 3 days/nights a week) I am finding leveling to be fun, but the endgame is getting to be boring. When Cata hits, I may start a new Worgen or Goblin character just to experience all the changes. (I likely wont race to 85 as I play too casually now..I'll catch up in time.)

As for the gear chasing, it isn't worth it at this point. I am just picking up pieces if they drop, and using my badges to buy primordial saronite and selling those for ~2k a pop. There really isn't a big need to gear out more on my main, a 5500 GS on Resto Shaman can heal anything in the game.

That's still quite good for "casual." :D Many players are still barely breaking 5k (myself included at 5100). Of course, I have an ilevel 200 trink that's still among the best for arcane mages.

Yeah, I've had some lucky drops and rolls on the few times I raided, being the only resto shaman helped too.

And while I am casual, the gf has been gone a couple times for work, so I went nuts with the LFD tool and ground out a ton of badges while watching football. BTW - you can hit ~4500 GS in pvp gear then start supplementing with PVE gear. Also there are good crafted items out there.

I did have mana issues for a bit, but I worked around that with potions, food, and use wise of talents.

I used to be a pretty hardcore player, and that tendency play like a madman returns when the gf is out of town. But when she is in town, I prefer other activities....;)

when i left WoW 6 months ago i was dying to get back. i palyed hardcore for 3 years and looking back i missed alot of time with my daughter. So i quit 6 great months went by and i started wanting to get back into it. built a new rig and all.

So i grab the demo and start playing alittle bit and i realized the game is just not for me anymore. There are SO many games out there i ignored such as Crysis and now that ive been able to play Crysis and stalker im blown away of what i missed.

i also missed the $16.19 a month in my pocket :) and to be honest the last couple of days of leveling i felt really guilt cause i felt like i was taking time away from my daughter.

I remember when I first started playing WoW and was of course "WoWd'...I played for a good year and then quit before the first expansion came out. I too tried to start playing again, doing the same thing you did. I dl'd the 10-day trial and after about 20 minutes I was like...MEHHHHH!!! :D
