Please tell me how do you see the start button? I have no Idea how to get around this with such a large display. You have to turn your head and it's a pain in the ass.

Wy I dont see the frames of the displays when gaming? how is that possible?

If you're going to go with 3 30" go portrait. ;)

3 x 30 inch portrait gives you the same size as a 52 inch tv and almost the same aspect ratio. Yes the pixel density is way lower. The other thing the width of each screen is equivalent to a 2007fp. I am struggling with this, landscape is amazing with 30 inch monitors. I can see the reason for people to want more vertical height with smaller screens such as 24 inch.

For gaming landscape is amazing for windows because of the stupid start bar portrait.

can anyone tell me if these have the same AG coating as 3007wfp-hc?

You do realize that sitting that close to that wide of a resolution, you're only ever seeing, probably something like 20% of the real estate at a time? Seems a waste to me. I'd portrait them, but even then...man. 30's?

Phew.

You could at least put them farther back on the desk, lol, looks like you have just enough desk space to do that without angling the outside ones too much.

Great setup!!!
Three 30" is a little too big for my taste: three 27" would be perfect!

Except you won't get the extra game world that landscape provides.

I understand what you mean since the center 30" would be wider in portrait mode than other monitors, which means the bezels are futher apart (a good thing). But on the other hand, 30" in landscape setup is going to be taller than a landscape 22"/24"/etc. setup anyway. If I get a third 30" I'm going to roll w/landscape mode because portrait seems like way too much of a PITA when you run into a game that doesn't support Eyefinity (especially since the 30" Dells do not rotate). Also the extra vertical height that you get for web browsing when in portrait mode doesn't matter as much with a 30" because you have 1600 pixels high anyway...much more than 1080 or 1200.

you mean in the future right?

because most games - hell i cant think of 1 game... that just gives you game world on command when it comes to eyefinity

most of them stretch the image or the fov is wrong or or or

crysis is one of the few that works without tweaking and looks good / in portrait... but when i turn into landscape things get stretchy or zoomy

so yes... technically, in theory... wide is better... but in the real world of real games... they just dont get it yet - devs are going to have to start opening up console commands fully for vert hor fov aspect resolution etc...

as it stands now / yes you can tweak a game from here to saturday and get it working good...

but on all the eyefinity setups ive seen - a little taller and a little wider is better than just your standard 3x1 extra uber wide

which... it really comes down to what kind of games you play - i automatically relate pc gaming to shooters [3rd and 1st person]

for racing games... your setup is more than perfect - as when you're zooming down a race track you want a wider than taller view

so for games where your fov is limited naturally [anything in a cockpit, racing, flying, etc] yes, uber wide is good

but where your game world is open... shooters, rpg, rts, etc... you're going to want as much space as you can get... both hor and vert

Well, I was basing that statement off of the screenshots that Zorachus, Frraksurred, etc. had posted of games running on a landscape Eyefinity setup:

I know many devs have to start specifically supporting multi display setups for the best optimization, but I was under the impression that in a landscape setup where Eyefinity works it opens up another 200% of game world that you wouldn't see otherwise...you get an additional 1/3 on each side that wouldn't be there normally. I thought most newer games just generally "worked" with no tweaking required, but then again I'm just going off of the screenshots. I agree with you that taller and wider is better as opposed to just wider, though.

it would be really really ... really cool if that were the case - that games just 'worked'

but a lot of them don't and from what i've seen and tested directly its mainly the field of view and aspect ratio that throws the wrench in there and wiggles it around...

but even when the games 'work' the way they are supposed to... with correct aspects and all... im still going to prefer portrait over landscape

the 'wall of monitor' in front of you adds more to the immersion factor than the 'sweeping landscape of monitor'

when i first got my monitors i had them in landscape / wasnt impressed - kinda pissed me off because i read every guy [and girl] in here and on the rest of the web going on and on about it...

and there i sat like... well, this is crap...

then flip up into portrait and ... ah... ok there, yea... there that makes sense...

now with 30" monitors... you know i really dont think it matters - one 30" is already a monster...

with 3 i dont think up or down it's going to matter... i personally have seen 3x1 30" and id go with portrait... but to each his own once your displays are that amazingly large :)
