CES 2010 New Case Release Thread

I know it is true, Coolermaster does have some ugly ducks in their line up....cheaply built also.....but then you have the Cosmo and 840ATC, they are on par to Lians in repsects to materails/options and cost atleast $100 less...in the ned it comes down to personal prefference, I could ofspent $400 plus on a Lian and almost did but when I checked out the 840 it just plain suited my build better, for me it was a tie between the 840 and Corsair.

Mmm, yes, let us hope this thread explodes in the next few days. Looking forward to some more new cases. :D

OP please add some of the new Antec chassis. They have two new kinda weird looking open front chassis like the stacker, and that open frame LAN mid tower that comes apart that was announced in France.

http://www.lanoc.org/news/ces-news/2217-ces-2010-day-one-wes

Antec also is going to start making a CPU cooler with a fan inside, kind of like Thermaltakes Sonic tower.

What happened to Antec? They used to make some very nice looking cases. Everything they are coming out with lately are just plain ugly.

Anandtech put up some images yesterday, better than the ones currently linked in the OP.

This thread will probably get much of it's news when CES is over. CES is such a big show, it's not uncommon for it to take a week or two till word gets around about the products that are shown off in hotel room suites versus the main showroom floor. Those new Antec replacements to the 1200/902 are fugly as all hell, but from what I've seen so far the functionality is looking pretty damn good:

-dust filters? Check
-12cm fans? Check
-blowhole? Yeppers
-ssd mount? got it.
-hot swap optional? Mixed info, some claim yes, others only by model.
-black interior? Got it.
-side facing hdd bays? Nope  But at least they look easy to deal w/ much like the 1200/902
-side panel details; window? Fan? Dust filter? Haven't seen any info yet
-unique/stylish looks sure to catch the eye? Uhhh... could Antec have tried any harder to make the case look like a movie prop for Battlestar Gallactica?

Edit- More linkage:

Looks like those Antec "DF" cases are called Dark Fleet which explains those silly plastic front panels. The side panel has a window w/ 12cm fan, but can't tell for certain if there's a dust filter there. Hopefully so or else it'd be a step backwards from the 902.

Those Antec cases DO look like successors to the 1200 and 902. WTF were they thinking?!

I was hoping for the next perfect case... side facing HDD cages, full side windows, Black interior, and the cooling of the Antec's.

I tried the Raven RV02 and it was an epic flop because my temps were worse...

*sigh*

I'm depressed now... I was hoping Antec would pick up after the HAF with the cages... but nooooo.

Going emo.

Oh yeah, Some filters, DEMCiflex makes better ones than those mini grills Antec laughingly calls a dust filter...
DEMCifilterNG.jpg

DEMCiflex dust filters, These stick on to the outside of a steel case as the border is magnetic(there are versions for plastic and aluminum cases too).

Antec's filters look nice, For a Fish net, As filters go, they FAIL.

I don't care much for the new antec cases. I love their flat black and introducing some color makes it seem clown-ish.

That's a pretty good remake of the centurion 5. It was a very popular budget case. It's a good thing that that added more fan mounts and a bottom mounted PSU. I'm not sure if they added cable management holes though.

Now if only Coolermaster would update the Centurion 534+. I really like the front bezel design on this case. Mmmmm... brushed aluminum without the high cost of a Lian Li.

Just updated the specs for the SG07 for those that are interested.
"Aluminum skin over plastic front panel" is interesting...

wth was passing through Antec minds!!!!! the most fugly cases I ever seen in my life

They must have fired all the P182 staffers because ever since then they have fallen off...a lot.

P series was beautiful until they started hacking up the doors with triangles. Now they're getting worse and making more than half of the case into hexagonal shapes, meanwhile the former champ of horrendous Thermaltake is finally coming up with half-decent designs (Element S).

Seems like most of the case mfrs. are going cheap and phoning it in. Lian Li is starting to be that way as well...such a shame. I love Silverstone's 90 degree board design but the outsides are ugly IMO (RV02) or cost more than they should (FT02).

Antec can't make good looking cases. They take old designs and make a Decepticon out of it.

I Agree! by other hand on the PSU department they are making a huge progress forgot to mention! their new TPQ-1200 OC its been getting a lot of attention lately and its becoming overclockers psu of preference! also they going to launch what a lot of people were waiting for a 1200w Signature series!

Ok sooo when CM introduced the first HAF (932) was an "Ok" design but not that attractive for many people but the features within the case were unbeatable for the price, then the HAF 922 came up with a better looking design making a "progress" on the HAF line, and now they totally step backwards with this design... is awful..

Problem is where are the filters? I have a HAF 932, The thing is great, It also collects dust bunnies like no other case that I've ever had before.

I swear it's like they all pick from 1 of 2 categories:

-open airflow with a scale on the outside design from passable or hideous

-closed up quiet case that can't cool anything but a pentium II and a riva tnt2

I don't get it. I don't get why case manufacturers can't make nice looking cases (elegant even, if you must humor me) that cool today's hardware. They either resort to being nice looking hot boxes, or open aired atrocities. I just don't get it.
Where are the smaller cases too? Not everyone has 2 opticals, 2 fan controllers, 1 card reader and 2 res bays. Why can't there be more A05's in the world? Where'd the originality go? Where's a Lancool X500 or an updated V1000 that still uses rATX but has a better bottom compartment? (other than the 1200 of course)

I'm glad I got my K7B before Lian Li decided to pull it and only sell the open air K50/K60 line, and I'm still glad I've held onto my V1000 even though right now it's empty.
Case manufacturers have gotten so lazy it's depressing. Why don't they all just merge into 1 conglomeration and sell nothing but those 2 categories and get it over with.

Oh yea the air filters! how I can forget!, I hope they can add that logic feature in a massive airflow case!

Yes, I agree, the big case manufacturers don't seem to be able to produce anything with style lately. Even the 800D missed the mark with that awful side window.

Designing a case with style that will appeal to a broad market and be able to house either an air-cooled or water-cooled rig is hard. Believe me, I know.

Unfortunately, many enthusiasts complain about the lack of stylish cases but then aren't willing to pay extra for good looking ones. I've seen tons of threads asking for recommendations for the "best" or "largest" cases out there, but then specify that the price needs to be less than < $200. :( Heck, just the power switch alone on the case I'm currently building costs as much as entire cases do at Newegg ($29.95). Usually price trumps style, but the 800D seemed to be well received.

you can buy the panel w/o window for 800D for 20 bucks...the windows is obvious on that case, most of the people who have it, has WC systems or has very expensive hardware, so why bother buying all that cool-looking hardware to not show it?

Hey Zero2dash, don't give up on us case makers yet! We are trying very hard and I think we managed to get good balance of airflow and quietness with RAVEN RV01/RV02 and Fortress FT01/FT02.

Isn't Newegg and a number of other retailers still selling it?

I sure hope Lian Li keeps making this case. It will probably be my next case if it's still available in Australia come June. All these new meshed front gaming cases are ugly as hell, but it seems to be all that case manufacturers are releasing these days.

I do not like the way those CM cases look. Way too much plastic... The smaller Elite cases they have (330, 331, etc) I like more and they are like $30 at some places. The Inwin line has come a long way since its white box days :)
