If you are a gamer and you have a girlfriend, you probably want to read this.

Research by the UK online discount site revealed that 80 per cent of women claim their other half spends too much time playing computer games or browsing the web. Furthermore, 70 per cent said the gaming addiction was the cause of arguments between the couple.

All this means is that 20% of women don't know how to

a.) work on their relationship (or are too lazy)
b.) know what other interests their man has
c.) are such a frigid bitch that they don't have sex

Funny I just read a statistic saying 14% of women cheat on their husbands. So I'm gonna take the 2 polls mash em together and say 6% of women genuinely have an issue with their spouse and games. 14% are just whores :D
 
Actually, I think my wife gets more easily addicted to gaming than I do. We had a bout over farmville, farmtown and the cafe facebook "games". Now she's hooked on Caesar IV.

It can happen. I caught myself playing CS entirely too much. Luckily I learned how to put down the keyboard and mouse and snapped back to reality. Guys who find a way to blame it on their significant other are sadly in denial. Its never okay to spend day after, hour after hour on a computer in your spare time.
 
what about those of us who date gamer girls?

a couple that slays together stays together.

However I would like to throw in my own jab anyhow on this. I guarantee that of those women complaining about their man and gaming, every single one of them see no issue with them sitting around for hours watching tv. Friend of mine had a wife who would throw a fit every time he attempted to game, but god forbid he interrupt her during her tv shows. Complete double standard most women have.
 
I don't trust surveys, since they can be manipulated, but I can say that my wife gets upset when I play far too much on my system, mind you she hates it when I'm not in the same room.

Exactly, you just have to get used to the double standard. My girlfriend spending $100 on lotion is fine but getting "another hard drive" when I already have one isn't.

Once you accept that you're fine.
 
Unless we are talking about crazy amounts of playing hours, then it is completely unjustifiable. Being in the beginning of a new relationship in my life, and having a decent amount of experience, I sometimes think that women just have less things to do than men with their free time.

That of course in our age and time is showing less and less, with women starting to participate in activities that were previously thought as man only or mainly.

(Slightly off-topic) Having an interesting conversation with a group of rpg players recently, regarding some work I do on sociological matters, I encountered many of them telling me the same thing, like they did it on purpose. The thing was that, according to them, it really doesnt seem any more time wasting to play a game than to go out and date.

I find it rather interesting because if you really really think about it, in a sense, anything you do will waste your time.

(sorry got carried away a bit)

Seriously, AVOID any woman that thinks you are her hobby. It will never end well as she will never be happy.

On the flip side it could mean 20% of men put no time at all in their relationship.
 
Maybe if they spent some time cooking and cleaning, they wouldn't be so worried about what their man is doing. Another thing is I bet they want their man to sit with them and watch some crappy soap operas or chick flicks.

I know a few women like this... I know one that broke up with her boyfriend because he would play video games while she watched TV. :rolleyes:

My ex-wife is like this. And this is one reason she is an EX :D

My wife now, is a gamer herself, but I think she gets more addicated to gaming than I do.

I don't have a problem with it, and either does she. Sex is real good to. Plus, she is on the [H]ardForums and reads HardOCP daily :D

I couldn't be happier/Luckier :D
 
This "20%" is most likely of the type that is not capable of entertaining themselves and expects you to ceaselessly entertain them. Some people actually do have problems, but there's at least as many people with control/attention/self-esteem issues as there are with compulsory behavior.

I can agree with that.. Its probably 50/50 to be honest..
 
I am thankful that my GF understands that my Wednesday nights are off limits as it's DDO gaming clan night. Thankfully she has not tried to test me by coming over on Wed night to dish "it" up LOL. She's not a gamer chick but has a son that is, so she's more understanding than most women. And that I <3 her for!
 
My gf bought a new MW2 Elite and let me have the old Elite (so nice of her) so now we play MW2 across the room from each other. It actually brings us closer together, if you can believe it. The only thing that bothers her is how often I demand we play the "Overwatch" spec ops mission.
 
My wife is on the computer just about as often as I am. And if she wants to do something, most of the time she'll let me know instead of getting mad about it and never saying anything.
 
If I were dating a girl less interesting than video games, I'd dump her and play video games.
 
Well I know I am not in that 20% :D

Been with my girl for almost 6 years now, engaged for 2 of that 6 and getting married in August o10.

I keep my gaming to myself but I sure get in a lot of gaming.
 
I'd like to see some numbers here, how did they get their results? who did they poll, how many, ect, without that information what they give us doesn't matter.
 
Women are for sex the sooner they learn this the faster they become lesbians, to obtain their true life parter and not someone who's just waiting for the hole to stop talking so they can fill it with junk.
 
Theres always time to play when she only at my house from midnight to damn well better be gone when I get home.
 
Here's a question --- is it a question of the girl dumping the guy because of gaming, the girl dumping the guy to go with someone else who doesn't "game"?

Gaming often means long stretches immersed in worlds of hobbits and goblins. Girls have a hard enough time with guys hanging out with other guys for football and such. if you shut her off for long periods of time doing something that she thinks is nerdy, that's two reasons she'll find something elsewhere.

Not that bitches can't be crazy and unreasonable, but if it gets to the point where she gets that way then you're not doing something right.
 
one of the first questions my girlfriend asked was if i played world of warcraft. i don't so no trouble here ;)

and i'm sure some of these 20% sexx0red for an epic mount. i mean... a wow mount, not that kind of mount.
 
Luckily, my girl is interested in games. It isn't uncommon for us to play Rock Band, Defcon, Altitude (fun game, check it on STEAM), Killing Floor, Frontlines: Fuel of War and Counter Strike: Source. (most recent game is Resident Evil 5 Cooperative)

The best part about it? She doesn't suck at the first person shooters as a lot of people commonly do (even a lot of guys). I've been toying to her with the idea that maybe we should join a CS:S 2v2 OGL ladder just for fun. Even if we lost every time it would still be a blast!

She still gravitates towards her more "girly" and "simple" games like Plants vs. Zombies, and that's cool, too. Nothing wrong with that, they're more relaxing games. At least she doesn't go on Facebook and whore it up with those web based games which are utterly inane. Nor is she the type that think putting on makeup is life's greatest work like vapid and shallow girls probably sampled for this sham of a "study". Your significant other can get too absorbed in anything: alcohol, television, gambling, video games, etc... Everything in moderation.

All in all, we have a lot of fun together and she is really good. I still have yet to introduce her to a flight or racing sim/RPG/RTS. Suggestions? :D

In short, that article is bunk.
