WoW is boring me to death. Im not sure why. I played WAR for a total of 1 month back in the day and loved the PQs and PvP aspect, but stopped playing because I personally did not know anyone who played.

Anyone still play this game? Im not looking for a debate here, just seeing how many of us here still play to see if its dead or if its worth getting back into for a while.

I don't play it online anymore, but I love playing skirmishes on single player. It's a fantastic time killer for boring weekend nights.

i havent played WAR in ages, but from what i heard you can play it for free up to level 10.

But to be honest, i'd go and play Aion, i'm playing it right now, and i love it.

War is good but has lost a lot of population... they merged to 4 servers which helped but...

As far as aion, that is THE worst mmo I have ever played in over 15 years of doing so.

i tried Aion and WAR both for a month

neither was very good

i think Blizzard really just nailed the formula to perfection, that's why every MMO that tries to compete with it just fails

WAR was a lot of fun, but the unbalanced and low pop servers really hurt it.

/not playing anymore

the wow formula only works because everyone's friends play the game and its like a big chat session. so what they have done is slowly worked away the challenges and exploration elements of mmos and replaced them with persistant positive feedback + easy gameplay. its more of a loot-pinata social game now than a gamer's game.

imagine if a new mmo came out and promised wow features like:

-'farm the same instances over and over again to get better gear so you can farm faster!'
-'kill all new bosses less than 24 hours after they come out because everything is dumbed down!'
-'more daily quest so you can do the same exact thing EVERY SINGLE DAY.'

people would murder it. the wow formula is far from perfect. personally I like old school mmos like everquest and wow classic a lot. everything felt like a struggle and it had great feelings of accomplishment. i've done everything in lich king and it all feels pretty hollow. its kinda fun because I can mindlessly play wow while chatting and watching tv...

Agreed 100% this is why I had to give up on WoW right before LK came out I could only take the noobified formula for so long.

Used to play WAR. I really liked it, but the realm population was very very low, and queues for skirmishes were ungodly. If it weren't for that, I would have continued.

I played AION, and as fun as it was, it drove me nuts to here all the "wow is better than aion because of XYZ" in chat, where I just did not enjoy grouping with anyone I didn't know personally. So I up and quit that one as well.

I am back on wow, and started a new toon the other day. I lost the raid bug after BC came out, just played the game with a few friends and had a good time.

I think each game has its pros and cons, and to be honest, if I could take the playerbase of wow and apply it to any other game, I would rather have them on WAR.

How about Lord of the Rings Online? Is it any good?

LOTRO is great with some friend or in a guild (fellowship), it has likely the most mature player base and leveling up feels like you are participating in the storyline unlike WoW which has never given people a reason to read or pay attention to quests. In months of playing LOTRO, I saw people swear like 2 times. Total. In hundreds of hours, just two times!!! A lot of the content is great for play with two or 3 people. My main gripes with LOTRO were how some of the quests and deeds were handled (you could clear out an area, get all of the deeds done, then ding Lvl30 and get *more* deeds and quests even though you just spent a week in that zone) and the fact that there was almost too much group content.

I really hated that it would have different quest chains that kept sending you into the same area that needed groups, but you would not get all the groups at the same time. Some times its hard enough to get a group, it sucks to spend 3 hours in a group, go turn everything in, then get more quests that send you right back to the same area to kill a different mob...

If you have a few friends to play with, this would never be an issue. For solo play, I found it maddening.

LORTO is great. Mature unlike WoW and has a great storyline.

I have not played it recently but DAOC probably my #1 pick for MMO. Nothing has been able to replace Realm v Realm play.

I have played WAR for a year now. My server (Gorfang) has seen merges from others that had low populations, and while there were (and still are) some balance issues, what keeps me playing is the fact that I really like my guild and the people I game with. We have coordinated city pushes every week and scenarios pop much faster now with 12 players queued per side instead of waiting for 18. Our alliance runs dungeon raids regularly if you need to take a break from realm vs realm combat, and overall I would say even when we don't come out on top, the game is still a lot of fun. I mentioned it in another thread, the trial is unlimited now but capped at Tier 1. if you are looking for an active endgame guild, feel free to send me a message.

I used to play war. I was an elder beta tester and had the game on release. Hell, I was even the first player on when the pre-order servers went live. I really enjoy the game but there is something lacking. Like it lacks a soul. I don't know. Either way I don't have time for multiple MMO's so I play a wee bit of WoW and am focusing more on Global Agenda.
