No console for Battlefield Bad Company 2 either...

BF3 will have 50vs 50 player online battle. Thats what dice is aiming for

Link to this info? That's interesting if true but I find it hard to believe since the only thing DICE has mentioned is that the game actually exists.

Here's an idea:

First play the beta;
Then bitch and whine.

At least it HAS a beta... unlike some unmentionable POS

MP gaming is a bunch of people competing under roughly the same parameters. usability settings, limitations, bugs, and all. As I see it, lack of a command console should be assumed for a modern multi-player game.
Nonsense. Let me ask you this: has Quake suffered with respect to multiplayer because it has a developer console? How does one define a "modern" MP game, anyway?

I see no issues. The only times I have used the console in MP FPS games is to show FPS or manually change the resolutions(non widescreen supporting games). So, as long as BC2 supports widescreen monitors ..... I hope they got the memo from BF2 lol

If the FOV isn't set correctly for the aspect ratio, I won't touch it. Otherwise, I don't really care as long as there are dedicated servers at least.

Fucking console generation is ruining my PC games. </bitteroldnerd>

Judging from the videos, it looks like 70-75 HFOV to me. In other words, it's not going to be the most pleasant experience for your eyeballs.

If it isn't 90FoV I'm out. Borderlands gave me a headache and I'm not doin that again.

All of your posts are like one or two words.

I'm not sure why anyone expecting anything other than this on a Battlefield game. The franchise isn't exactly known for it's modding community.

Umm, what? You do know that Desert Combat was a mod for the original Battlefield? BF2 was essentially Desert Combat with better graphics. There are a lot of mods for the BF franchise. Maybe not on par with Half Life community but definitely more than most games released.

All these "tweaks" and things (Adjusting the FOV, binding keys, editing lagometer, feeding mr fusion) are the reason why PC gaming is dying. All this crap is simply too complicated and cumbersom to 85% of the gaming community. You guys just do not seem to understand that these companies are in the business of making money and the money is in the consoles, and then throwing you guys a port of the game to sell a few million more. The mass market (read dollar signs) wants simplification, plug in and play, and the mass market thinks the PS3 and 360 have amazing graphics.

Some of you seem to think that these companies owe you something, and they don't. You could ALL stop buying their games and they would not see a dent in their bottom line. Your a spec of dust, you can't see the writing on the wall, then you bash a company for making strategic moves that are in their best interest.

Face it, there will always be games on the PC....but the exclusives are going by the wayside and there is not a thing that you can do about it.

You guys remind me of the people who still write checks or refuse to use online banking. If you want to game only on the PC thats fine, but you should realize that you should be thankful for what you get, because they could shoot you the rod and just stop producing for the PC, and their bottom line would still do just fine.

Quit bitching about every move a company makes, you will enjoy life better.

Tell that to Valve.

Also online banking is for suckers and horribly unsecured, anyone who uses it is horribly ignorant.

Everything they have released lately is on a console...why do you think that is?

Ignorate statement.

And they're all optional. Don't want to set your mouse sensitivity in the console? Do it in the game's menus. There's nothing "complicated" about having a single key that give you access to a useful and not-all-that-complex system for executing common tasks faster and with more precision than they would be in a multi-level menu system.

I'd be willing to bet you've never been negatively affected by the inclusion of a developer console in a PC game, yet you seem hellbent on defending DICE's decision to exclude it despite the reality that PC gamers find value in it (as should be obvious). I find this rather curious myself.

You guys just do not seem to understand that these companies are in the business of making money and the money is in the consoles, and then throwing you guys a port of the game to sell a few million more.
We're aware of that.

Some of you seem to think that these companies owe you something, and they don't.
If they want our money, they owe us a satisfactory product. We are not console gamers: we do not just buy whatever is marketed to us as being exemplary.

Everything they have released lately is on a console...why do you think that is?
Because console development is profitable and Valve is obviously rather business-savvy.

The only time I've ever used the console in my life was to see my fps in CS:S before I knew about Fraps.

Their console games are ports from PC. I'm not just talking about their games. How much money do you think they make off Steam? A service that gets 2.7+ million users is hardly insignificant.

Bob Loblaw

Hi, adding extra options that don't need to be used by the "mass market" but help the diehard gamers play their games like they want is not confusing. How exactly is it confusing to NOT OPEN THE CONSOLE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO?

We, the consumers, like having the options. Some of us base our purchases on how well we can tailor our games to fit our level of enjoyment.

Good for you if you don't want or need a higher quality game, I'm sure you are happy with the games you do play. What you want and need from a game, however, doesn't really matter to people with opinions that oppose yours.

To me, lack of console in BC2 is not a big deal IF they have a fleshed out options menu to allow me to tune my game. MW2 lack of dedi servers was a dealbreaker for me. Watching my buddy play Karachi 4 times in a row, not being able to kick players, and dealing with host migration really just wasn't my idea of good multiplayer. BC2 WILL have dedicated servers, sure they are rented/leased, but they are still dedicated servers.

Lastly, since digital distribution like Steam report no sales numbers, how exactly do you know what PC gamers want? Retail sales slip every year, but digital distribution more than makes up for it.

I've been a fan of the series since I was first introduced to the DC mod for 1942 in 2003, I have owned most all Bf games since then(except 2142 and BF2MC for 360), and as a player who doesn't run servers I can count the amount of times I needed to use the console on one hand, and it was all to see my FPS numbers and I'm sure there will be a way to do it without the dev console.
