FRYS B&M CLEARANCE Danger Den Liquid Cooling Kit 4404

This is currently on clearance at Fry's for 69.90. Because it is clearance stock will be YMMV but at the start of day every store appeared to have 2 or more and many store had 5 or so.

PLU is 5464609

I can't find this product on the dangerden website. I do know it has been in production for 2 years and it is an "old model" because I can't link to the product directly I am going to post the contents list that was included inside the box.

1-MC TDX CPU COOLER
1-Black Ice Xtreme II Radiator
1-D5 12 volt pump (fixed speed)
2-Yate Loon Fan (preinstalled onto the radiator) These fans are both 120 mm
5-Tygon Tubing, 17", 22" 4.75", 4", and 10.5" lengths
10-Hose Clamps
1-Cooling System Fillport
1-Polypropleyne "T" 1/2 inch
2-Fittings
1-Power Supply Jumper
1-Ceramique
1-Tubing Plug
1-Syringe
1-Instructional DVD

This kit was designed for the Danger Den Water Box PLUS FE edition (I also can't find the FE edition on the website).

Here is the link for the item on fry's website which wasn't very helpful. Note the website is $100 dollars more than the store.

And while this is a hot deal posting, any comments from the watercooling crowd would be very helpful, I am out of my league when it comes to WC. So suggestions for compliment parts or parts that you think are better than what comes with the kit would be excellent.

I too will be going to Fry's in Illinois to see if they have any of these.

fingers crossed.

if this has both the i7 and i5 kits it'd be super awesome. i bet it's for 775 though. pump alone is $75. take it while you can. i'm going to go check out my local frys too. anal watercooling freaks will say it's horrible compared to other waterblocks because of 2-5C difference, but if you're coming from stock air it should do you well.

Honestly if you are going to get this kit and never expand it you are better off with a corsair H50. 120mm rad will never be enough to cool off a OCed i7/i5 and the pump dumps more heat into the loop. That shit is worthless you can do better buying the stuff separate. You are basically paying $150 for a D5 rev B pump with fixed speed what a deal LMAO

I think that this is a very good deal....just buy a waterblock for your needs.

Fafeifa is right in that if you do want to dabble in watercooling without getting too deep into it, the sometimes $50 Corsair H50, as far as some light internet research has come up, is a good choice, especially if you just run stock. People report OC'd to 4GHz i7's hit between 75-85Cs.

But If you're planning on high overclocks and playing with some more in watercooling, for that price the DangerDen setup is a good starter kit.
It's red tag clearance at OP's Fry's for $69.90.

A set of new MC TDX + D5 is worth $69. The D5 fixed speed pump isn't perfect, but is reliable and has a strong foothold in the watercooling community. Buying used can be another option if you want to get a similar price on parts.

Judging by the specs listed the pic shown on frys.com does not look accurate. A Black Ice Xtreme II = the dual 120mm radiator. It should handle an overclocked i7 (I use an XSPC RS240 /w my i7). Another dual rad + 2 yate loon fans can be had for about $50 (Petrastech has the Swiftech 220 rad/res for $39), and you have yourself a rockin double dual rad watercooling setup for $110 ($120 to add a triple rad). LoL. That's enough of a monster to cool GPU's too, but who has the space for that though? ;p

It isn't a single 120mm but instead a dual 120mm. And you can always add another rad as xkon pointed out.

See this as a stepping stone for a watercooling build. The pump itself goes for $70 online same price as this kit that is on clearance.

The picture itself isn't accurate on the fry's website.

While fry's inventory system sucks, and there instore pick up system sucks even more it can give you an idea which stores to call/check out.

Here is a result of trying to order the item online and its results.

Concord, CA All items available
Palo Alto, CA Includes display items
Fremont, CA Includes display items
Sunnyvale, CA All items available
San Jose, CA All items available
Campbell, CA All items available

So in sum Concord, Sunnyvale, San Jose, Campbell probably has 2 or more. Palo Alto and Fremont probably only have 1 left, it may be display and it may be just 1 and the computer is assuming it is a display item.

None of the stores in the area is reporting a zero at the start of 12/27/09 or it would say the item is unavailable.
------------------------------------------
Note this system sucks and doesn't do real time tracking so don't trust it, but it can give you an idea which stores to check first. Only way to know for sure is for someone to go down to the store and check it out, or to know a trustworthy components/telesales person who actually goes to the sales floor and checks.

I have been watercooling since the koolance 1 was good... And aqua computer was new and revolutionary along with things like the NexXxos and silver water blocks...

All I can say is, I think you all are HIGHLY underestimating this kit. For 69 its an insane STEAL! The D5 (even fixed speed) is a GREAT pump, the water block is one *one of the best. It is the MC-TDX and the one with the nice clear top (I like em :) ) Along with tygon tubing and a nice dual 120 rad... Plus yateloons...

I dont get what the trash talking is.... is something that much better than these components at this point? And anywhere near the value per $???

BIX2 is really made for high speed/pressure fans and not quiet ones like yateloons but at 70 dollars you can't really complain. A D5 alone is worth almost as much as the kit. Sick deal if you have frys in your area.

I have used 2 in the past.... and I bought 6 more! LoL I will use what I need, and sell the rest : ) Either parted or in whole....

And I will still say, if you can get this, DO its truly a great value. I mean cmon, if you really REALLY want bleeding edge... why even water, just vapo right... ;)

I just bought this kit at burbank, ca does anyone know where I can get a resevoir and anything else I need to make this kit work? Thanks.

A res is only cosmetic, I dont use em in my systems. But they are awesome.... sorta ; )

If you have a res, its easy to drop in some silver to keep algae down... trust me on that!

Going to Fry's tomorrow.

PM Me if you are sure you want me to pick up one for you. If they have it that is.

Unfortunately, I think Fry's includes the "open box" returned items in their totals when you search or call and ask how many they have in stock. I've gone to the Houston (Webster) Fry's after calling about CPU/mobo combos and being told they have at least 10 in stock, only to find when I got there that EVERY SINGLE motherboard was "open box." I can tell you from experience that the Fry's employees usually don't check returns for functionality or missing parts; they usually just slap a sticker on it and put it right back on the shelf. Might be OK for something like this, but I don't care too much for Fry's.

I swear the red tag in Vegas said something like $150 tonight, which would explain why they had a giant stack of them.

If someone could pick two of these up for me that would be great!

I snagged one of these at my local fry's (my store had 2 on shelf) and it seems like it is an excellent value for what you get. The pump is performing well, and while I'm not a watercooling expert the results speak for themselves. I purchased a danger den 5.25 bay reservoir to go with it. Mounted the block to my Q9650, setup the rad in a push/pull with the 120's inside the front of my antec 1200 and prime95 only heats up to 47C under load. I'm just running plain old distilled water with a pure silver object sitting in the reservoir to keep algae and growth away. So for less than $100 I say it kicks ass.

I'm sure there are better watercooling hardware out there. And getting a few C lower temps might be nice. But I don't think many, if any, can match the price/performance of this deal. The extra edge isn't worth $100-200 more to me. If you can find any left at frys get it!
