Had some down time over Christmas which meant I could finally get around to wall mounting my monitors.

I got the 30" a few months back which I added to my existing 20"s. Since then, they were all on stands but due to my extreme OCD, they were destined to be wall mounted as soon as I had some free time.

Here's how they were setup while on stands...

This setup is strictly for computer work which is why the workspace is so clean and minimal. When I rotate my chair 180 degrees, I'm at my "paperwork desk" which is a little more cluttered. ;)

To mount the monitors, I had to use a solid piece of wood which the mounts are attached to using bolts and T-Nuts. I then used spring loaded toggle bolts to mount the wood to the wall and then plastic caps to cover the screw heads - then the whole thing was painted to match the wall. I had to use a lot of toggle bolts to spread the load over a large surface area of the drywall. Living in a concrete condo tower means crappy aluminum studs turned on their sides and 25" apart - not the best for wall mounting stuffs... something I discovered when wall mounting my Plasma.

I had intended to conceal the wires behind a painted conduit but I actually liked the look of the small array of centrally located wires. Perhaps over time I will become annoyed by them and end up concealing them - we'll see.

I set the side monitors slightly back from the front edge of the 30" to help minimize the bezel space. There was also a silver strip on the top and bottom of the 20"s that when rotated sideways, was vertical and somewhat annoying between the black bezels. With the 20"s set back 1/2", I don't see that strip.

You're probably wondering what's up with the mouse - well, it's something I started back in my FPS days (yes, sadly they are behind me). I used to have a "death grip" on my mouse when gaming that resulted in major hand cramps. One day I added some high-density foam to the mouse using two sided tape - it's just something I've been doing ever since. I start with just a piece of foam on either side and then shape them with a x-acto blade. Over time the foam really contours to my hand which makes working for long hours far more comfortable - a fascinating story no doubt. :)

probably the first person i've seen that is going to need that aggressive antiglare coating LoL

killer setup man =)

3rd picture down . your keyboard is to far to the right could you move it over about a half inch please:D.

Just kidding. Nice job !!

charles_h

I have never whacked off to computer [H]ardware pic's before, but this may be my first

Holy mother of God, that is a clean and sweet setup. Now my 3 - Dell 27" look cluttered and ugly next to that. My gehtto stands of three paint cans has got to go

Too bad EYEFINITY does not work on that setup, what a shame, I do think the 20" + 30" + 20" is the #1 setup for EYEFINITY, hopefully AMD will allow the mix and matching of Portrait + Landscape someday

P.S. Which specific monitor arms are those ?

2 x Benq G2200W 22" (1680x1050 each - DVI)

1 x Hercules Prophetview 720 15" (1024x768 - VGA)

With that settings for Positions:

(German Windows)

I had another Benq connected before i bought the LG and the Hercules, i want to replace the LG again with my old Benq as it fits better, but i do not have a DVI -> VGA adapter here, so i need to live with it for now.

Do you have both ATI CCC and NVIDIA ForceWare installed and running simultaneously? Are there any problems running both at the same time?

My uncle's setup... three 30" Apple LED Cinema HD displays... it's great.

The only standalone Apple LED display is there 24 inch cinema display.

Still awesome monitors, though. Wouldn't mind you posting a better pic of the setup.

Yes, actually no Problems - Just some old games like Quake 3 can not decide itself right what Monitor they want to use (easy to fix with some config changes), and Windows 7 goes a bit mad when connecting new Monitors (Black screen until ctrl - alt - entf)

Thanks. This is the first confirmation I've had and seen from someone that's actually used both ATI CCC and NVIDIA ForceWare simultaneously.

But i need to say that you should use the latest Forceware, since the old one Installed fine for me (and everything worked in Windows) but the Forceware control Panel just did not want to start - it works since 4 month or so, no idea if there was a Update (since i usualy never reboot)

Update:
After some Mad messages :)P) on Twitter i decided to clean up a bit, and have put some LCDs to another places:

Sorry for the Quality, did only have my Mobile Phone here....

Is that Evangeline you have in your closet? ;)

<<dozens of mice throughout [H] now click rapidly to find your original post>> :p

Is that your personal setup ? Fucking awesome :) That center monitor looks smaller in width compared to sides for some reason ?

What wallpaper is that ? please link

Now you just need a killer monitor arm to lift them off the stands and get those displays at eye level, it makes a world of difference having the center of the monitor match up with eye level, instead of looking down on them, which can hurt your neck over time.

I thought this kind of minimalistic, clean and almost sterile perfection existed only in furniture catalogs.
