Recommendations for software to manage multiple monitors?

Hey, just wondering if anyone's got a recommendation for software to help manage multiple screens. I just got a second 24" (woohoo!) and I was thinking it would be nice if I could have better control over what programs opened on which monitors, how the desktop wallpaper was rigged up across the two screens, maybe extend the taskbar across both, etc.

wow, I downloaded the ultramon trial - it's phenomenal. I'm gonna need to buy myself a copy... the extra buttons for managing maximized windows are awesome, and the double taskbar is really cool too. thanks for the advice.

thanks, but that's for being able to use the same mouse and keyboard for two computers, like a digital version of a KVM minus the V part. looks interesting though.

I tried both UltraMon and DisplayFusion when I got my 24" LCD...

I liked DisplayFusion better, mostly due to the neat wallpaper handling (can do one for both displays, different, offset, etc) and the fact that it seemed to be under much more active development than UltraMon at the time (summer, when Win7 was still a RC, I wouldn't know if UM development has picked up since then). The DF dev seemed much more concerned with fully integrating DF into Win7 so the look is consistent etc, it seemed a lil' bit more stable to me than UM as well (I managed to crash/corrupt an UM install somehow on an XP rig, might've been my own fault tho).

While testing those two I tried one or two other window-management apps for multiple displays, and several other background switching apps... For single-display XP rigs the good ol' MS Wallpaper Changer Powetoy is still the best there is. For single-display XP/Vista/Win7 systems Jon'[s Background Switcher is pretty good and freeware, altho Win7 has that basic functionality built-in, JBS is a lil' bit more resource heavy than the MS Powertoy but still better than all the other alternatives. For multiple displays just get DF or UM.
