What's a good storage server name?

All my machines are centered around Greek Mythology so my WHS is "Olympus".

Nenya, the ring of power from LotR that protected lothlorien like Nenya protects my data.

Mine is NovaProspekt.

Half-Life fans will get the reference. All my servers and ones that I set up for other people are all related to games or people I know.

Strikes me a little funny to think of servers that you never want to have fail that you hope can run 24/7 being named Dead Space, Fallout or Mirror's Edge... Then again, if it's a real clunker, it could just be L4D...

BlackMesa was the name of a database server that crashed. I wrote Anomalous Data as the reason for the downtime. I smiled for about 30 seconds. :p

Mine are:
CHIEF (halo nerd)
JARVIS (Iron Man)
GERTY (Moon)
HAL9000 (you had damn well better know where this one is from or you == fail)
VIRUS

main rig (gaming/server) Zeus with external arrays name aphrodity and artemis
GF's rig morrighan
laptop apollo
media center hermes

previous names where
jupiter > Io > callisto
neptune
mars
mercury

with 3 remote rigs still named luna titan and europa

i haven't been able to come up with a good naming scheme yet, so for now its just

srv1
-vm-srv1
-vm-xp01
-vm-sev01
-vm-ubu01
-vm-win2k8
-vm-seedbox

Other physical computers in my house are named; Abimelech, Eli, and Samuel. Though these will change once I figure out a naming convention for my server.

Mines called Maxnas, as its a maxtor nas box. Highly original I know.
Its only 300gb though, quite old, but plan on getting 2x 1tb usb drives to hang off it in the future as well.

RedMonastery (Scarlet wouldn't fit.)

Whatever the hell you like, dude. Anything at all.

From my knowledge, many people like to call servers after scientists, planets.
but seriously, for functionality i'd name them

db01
db02
esx01
win01
etc

For my home servers, I generally pick the names of planets, moons, or a unique name from whatever game/movie/show that I'm into at the time. However, I named my file server PERC since it has a couple Dell PERC5/i cards in it.

etrenank

Almost all of my servers and boxes at home and at work are named after things from Xenogears. Usually either parts of the Deus system or Solaris.

Damn... i'm just so borring... my server is called NAS and my media center is called HTPC.

not boring, just pragmatic - you've probably wasted far less time than most of us have trying to come up with a naming scheme for your stuff ;)

bitzkrieg

My boxes are named after their use htpc, server, win7, kitchen, laptop7, etc etc

haha, I went with Norse myself.

Me too. My domain is "midgard", workstation is "odin", file server is "thor", HTPC is "loki", and laptop is "vidar".
