I am looking for some good games on iphone to kill time. Looking for something challenging but doesn't require too much attention. Right now I have fieldrunners on it and it's very fun. I have tried Rolando due to the hype, but didn't it worthwhile due to its "complex" controls.

Any suggestions?

Zombies attack, iDracula, HeavyMach, Sentinel 1/2, Inkvaders, StickWars, Underworlds, I dig it, Zenonia, Hybrid, Defenders Chronicles. I have accumulated a lot of games over the past year, these are all pretty good.

There are too many to think of. I suggest getting Pandora Box to watch what goes on sale. Also check out toucharcade.com.

Peggle was one of my faves. I also liked the EA Sports games.

Monkey Island and Bomberman - nuff said :)

There are also Fifa 10, Settlers and Civilisation. They got also Metal Gear Solid and Assassin Creed.

Not really a game, more like a program but still loads of fun. Make beats with beaterator, best used with the headphones that come with the iphone.

-Call of Duty: World at War Zombies is fun (I had $9.96 in my iTunes account so I splurged, normally wouldn't pay this much for a game).
-Catan is sweet if you're into Settlers. I just bought the board game recently and fell in love with it.
-Fling is a neat puzzle game, I got it when it was free. Unsure how much it normally costs.
-JellyCar is a fun game that is/was free.
-Resident Evil 4 was only $2.99 and is pretty long and controls fairly well. I'm impressed.
-Scrabble, was $4.99, can't really beat it. Simple and can play with friends or against CPU.
-SimCity is neat but I rarely find the time to play it.
-Touch Hockey is ad-supported and neat!

my favorite apps/games:

IGN
977 music
doodle jump
alive4ever
geared
bejeweled 2
topple
fling
TWI

Peggle for sure. I've spent way too much time playing that game.
Metal Gear is fun for a little while and I think it's on sale for only a couple of bucks now. It's worth $5.

the Tap Tap Revenge games are fun if you're into DDR/Guitar Hero type stuff. It comes with a few songs and has a bunch of free ones available, it can also use some of the songs from your iPod if it recognizes them and a sheet has been made for it.

Pocket Tanks is a lot of fun as well. Turn based artillery game. The lite version has like 30 different weapons, so it's very adequate. The full version has something like 130 weapons.

Atoms is a game I downloaded recently. It's interesting and fun, but really just a short novelty game for when I'm on the bus or any other short-play scenario.

I like geoDefense, Defender Chronicles, and Sentinel (1 and 2). All of these are tower defense games, though Defender Chronicles is a different spin on TD. I've sunk a lot of hours into Defender Chronicles.

A new one that just came out is Outer Empires

Its an MMO, believe it or not. Pretty simplified, but thats what it is. It can also be played in your browser on your PC. Its a space game similiar to EVE online, but much more simplified. Its free to play, but you CAN subscribe ($3.99 a month), which gives you 2x experience and money from missions. Its definitely NOT necessary to pay (at least as far as I've seen).

Its pretty cool. I'm still very early into the game, but it looks very promising. Its a very new game, so some features aren't in or working properly yet, but the dev team seems very dedicated. I've already seen them release a patch.

If they implement the things they're talking about, the game will be awesome. For now though, its pretty good and fun.

Tap defense was alright, but I dropped it when they added in the 'Pay for more towers' or 'Visit all these slimy spam websites' to get more towers thing.

They may have taken that away, but once that update came out, I immediately uninstalled and never looked back.

Tiger Woods Golf looks like gold for the iPhone, in my opinion. Haven't played it, but if I had an iPhone, I'd own it for sure.

great thread. will bookmark this.

do you guys jailbreak your device?

I did, I don't know of many apps yet though. I've just got a custom winterboard theme and and SNES emulator and GBA emulator (no games for this one though).

Thanks for everyone's reply, didn't know there are that many popular games. Keep them coming :).

my favorites are

FF: crystal defenders (final fantasy tower defense... best currently avalible IMO)
Rolando
Sway
crazy machines (like the old incredible machine from sierra)
peggle
pacman remix (awesome game... loved the xbl version, iphone version is just as fun)
COD: nazi zombies
Settlers
C&C red alert
Zen Bound (awesome casual game)
Mecho wars (outstanding turn based strategy game)
Wolfenstein RPG
Worms
Monopoly
and my new favorite, Alive4ever

I would add simcity to the list, but I don't really like the idevice version. It's like SC3000, which is cool, but for performance reasons (or lazy developers) everything disappears while you're zooming and panning.

the iphone/itouch is turning into a really good portable gaming device. Now Apple (or a 3rd party) needs to get off their asses and make a good controller addon for it

Dungeon Hunters - Diablo clone, three classes, colour coded drops, you unlock skills and abilities as you level up, you can gather faries which give you access to magic spells. Great graphics.

Real racing - a great driving game with nice graphics

Dungeon Hunter
Cannibalt
Peggle
Doodle Jump

I only listed the games that I actually think are great on the iPhone. I have others but I don't find myself playing them as much as these. My others include Katamari, WordFu, Star Defense, and Rolando.
