What a cheater's screen looks like in CODMW2

I was looking for a way to disable the 2D hud elements in single player because having stupid names of Captain Price, etc. popping up in neon green everytime you move the mouse looks silly and ruins the cinematic nature of the single player game.

I googled disabling the 2D stuff and this came up on google cache.

Wow, that must make it easy to see enemies!

Regarding what I was trying to do though, does anybody know how to disable the stupid captions and names? I've disabled crosshairs already but I want to disable everything. The hud at the bottom, the follow markers, the indicators, the names, etc.
 
Looks like an empty server, and a screen from a test. A hackers screen looks more like this:

to change those settings you would most likely have to go into the console.. oh wait.. they disabled the console.. :D lol.. theres actually no way to turn any of that stuff off.. hell i had more trouble trying to get their names to actually show up then to have them annoy me..
 
See that's the thing, He actually did. Just because his answer was not the solving type, does not mean he didn't assist in helping him.

Now I suggest you follow his tip.

As SM said most likely you will need to access the console which i recall has been unlocked already but don't remember where or how to.

I've looked into it and the console has only been unlocked for multiplayer and the latest patch has deleted the console.

Seems like single player is not popular enough for those that know how to do these things to bother with. That's the trouble with two executables, one for sp and mp.

yeah it seems IW's going the extra mile just to piss off the PC gaming community with these updates that constantly lock shit every time some one finds a way to unlock a feature that should of been unlocked from the beginning..

The phrase is F IW with a BIG rubber D. They keep locking things that should be utilized/are already encoded but they STILL go out of their way to make certain people can't have a normal-ish game like cod4 is/was?

I haven't played the game nor will I ever. Die in a fire you travesty to pc gaming hobags. Unbelievable that people paid for this crap. I mean, I know most people are ignorant but daaaaaamn.
 
I was able to use my config from CoD4 in MW2. You may be able to disable the names in your config by editing the cvars there rather than in console. Unfortunately I uninstalled the game because of how terrible it is so I cant go looking for you. Just google your config location for whatever respective operating system you use and then look through the cvars. You cant add cvars to the config but you can edit the ones there. Good luck.

I guess "entitlement" is the word of the day (year?) for people who live for the status quo. You go on enjoying the lowest common denominator if you like, just spare the rest of us your snarky posts in the mean time.
 
IW has been updating MW2 with 'lockouts' of multiple files that have always been made available in the past. There IS dedicated server support built into the MW2 game, they just have to activate it... yet IW would rather not because ??????

Not having dedicated servers is a big middle finger to PC gamers.
