Nintendo Wii will be $149 @ Walmart starting Dec 5th...

I'm with this guy, if you can't find 50$ to spend at walmart you got issues, buy some shit paper, and some food and you're good to go.

Well if I've only got $150 to spend - then it doesn't matter if its a $100 GC, I don't have $200 to pony upfront. its still useless to me and not hot.

OK. You aren't interested. We get it. Drop it already.

LOL at those who are browsing the Hot Deals but can't spend 50 bucks at Walmart. They have plenty of consumables, even excluding the food options. I think I spend that much every week at any grocery store for general merchandise.

Hey, maybe I can sell you my car for the MSRP, but give you a $20000 discount in coupons that you can use at my garage sale for future buys.

You know, since Walmart also has a market cap of $20 in soiled underwear and expired condoms.

LOL, I got a Wii for $100 with the Mastercard Overwhelming Offer they have been doing. I had to pay $199+ tax with my mastercard and then about 3 days later got $100 refunded back. Still a much better deal than this :)

Cant you buy it for $199 minus 20% bing cashback giving it to you for $160 + the $50 gift card making it a total of $110. Or do you not get the gift card online?

sorry to change topics a bit but what is this about a wii upgrade? I follow video game sites pretty closely and have heard of no such thing... any links? Google isn't helping much either. The only real thing i have found was this: http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/11/06/nintendo-denies-wii-hd-upgrade-planned-for-2010/ and variations. Just some random "analyst' making a prediction that doesn't make much sense when you think about how it would all work.

2nd this.
Who cares about the rants on the damn walmart ordeal.

Not a bad deal, enough to buy some accessories, games...
Wii Sports Resorts (w/ Wii Motion)
Mario Cart

Yeah it misleading, but alot of want extra controllers or games so it's not a bad deal.

Yea really. I mean who is going to buy a game console and get nothing else? Take it as them throwing in a free game or something. Sure it isn't as good as 50 bucks off for some people but hell even when I bought my brother a 360 pro last year I ended up throwing in some extra crap to get him started.

Anyway for those questioning the nintendo upgrade they will probability release the black console in the us and maybe some other colors. I'm guessing at some point they will either throw a wii motion plus in the box or make a new controller that has it built in. I don't think we will see much more then this unless they do something like add more internal storage, add ethernet to the system without the usb dongle(don't think this will happen), or add some random stuff like video playback.

Well I could at my Walmart.. And I also did it on the PS3 one a year ago.. guess each store is diff.

No you didn't, I think you are just confused. The item is rang up at the register, register prompts for gift card, $50 is added, then subtracted from the transaction. Once the $199 + tax is paid via cash, check, credit or debit the card is then activated for use on any transaction therefor after. You can't use the card until the receipt is printed, I think you may be confused on what happened or what deal was going on.

FYI Walmart will have a deal every Saturday until after Christmas.

I don't doubt that at all. I expect many-a-color soon, and possibly moton-plus pack in and/or wii sports resort pack-in... but as far as fundamentally releasing an upgraded console or making a "wii HD" that is out of the question. The only reason I brought it up is because the first post said: "upgraded hardware to compete with ps3 and xbox 360". Of course, my opinion, just didn't see any real evidence of this anywhere.

sell the gc for 45 to a relative :) that is what i do with gc. Always sell them 5 cheaper.

I feel sorry for those who grabed wii on Black Friday for a bit more hard earned cash :(

But also rumor says new gen of Wii will surface as early as First Quarter of 2010 with upgraded hardwares to compete with PS3 and Xbox360

"Starting this Saturday (Dec. 5th), at 8 AM, Walmart will be offering a $50 gift card with every Wii purchase, bringing the effective price of the console down to just $149.99 -- and that's easily the best deal on a Wii we've ever seen.

The deal will last until December 12, or while supplies last. Good luck with that "while supplies last" thing: we'd guess that to be certain of a Wii deal you'll want to be there first thing on Saturday morning."

Very hot deal but would you mind posting how many hundreds of dollars are necessary to spend on the accessories to play the wii?

Very hot deal but would you mind posting how many hundreds of dollars are necessary to spend on the accessories to play the wii?

lets see,

3 remotes at 40 a piece 120
3 num chucks 20 a piece 60
4 motion plus things 20 a piece 80
2 balance boards think about 80 a piece 160
4 ddr pads around 30 a peice 120
component cables 10

$550 i'm coming up with, those are at least all the accessories that i want, no where near them but getting close. makes you wonder why they don't give you the console knowing you'll need all this extra stuff.

as far as i know, no games support 2 balance boards just an FYI :)

I go tone for my in-laws this morning and the gift card is going to food.

Went and got mine this AM for Wife XMas Stocking Stuffer. 2 extra controllers and game. This Christmas way way cheaper than MSW Grad Gift.

Now to find home for the Gift Card (Daughter I am thinking).

Oh they had about 50 of them and started selling at 7am.

$50 walmart gift card is as good as cash, you can get food there which I'm guessing all of you will need at some point after you get over the title to the thread.
It's like the L4D2 protesters, if you don't like it, don't buy it and enjoy nothing. That's how it works. No reason to complain and stink up humanity.

I'd be in, but waiting for Wii HD.

Thanks for posting it here..
This deal has been around for a few days now.. @ other places..
This is funny how nobody posts deals here (including me)
Maybe I'm just lazy :p

More like, "don't buy it and enjoy something else."

Has anyone been able to order this online with the 20% cashback and then get it PM'd to get the gift card in store?

Yikes. Whenever I spend 199 on something and get a gift card/rebate/etc of 50 bucks, I usually think of it as 50 off the retail price... But maybe I'm just normal.

How, you paid $199 for it, now you will go spend $50 on something else....you still paid full price for an item, not like you can go and take that $50 and cash it in for cash unless you sell it to someone, hardly normal.

I guess if you don't eat or use toilet paper or plan to buy games or accessories for the Wii even, that free $50 gift certificate would be meaningless to you.

At the Wal-Mart by me you save 3 cents a gallon on gas if you use a gift card

I'm sure 99% of the people on here will buy at least one gift for the Holidays this year at Wal-Mart

I think most of the ladies on this Forum need to tuck there Vagina in or plug it

Bunch of whiners

Kids...er...I mean, young adults..don't always have $50 more to shell out for a toy. And they also don't regularly buy food, toilet paper, gas, or other staples. Therefore, requiring an extra $50 could be quite a hardship.

that makes no sense whatsoever. if you are a kid then your parents could buy it and use the gift card for something at Wal Mart. if you are old enough to but it yourself then I am sure at some point you could use the gift card to get toilet paper, food or any of the other thousands of items sold at Wal Mart that any normal person uses on a regular basis.

Then they need to forget about splurging for a non-necessity item like a Wii if they're that broke.

very true. if 50 bucks presents a hardship then getting a Wii should be the least of their concerns. really his entire comment was foolish because nobody should have trouble finding 50 bucks worth of useful stuff at Wal Mart to buy. even if you dont buy groceries there, they still carry almost everything a person needs to use on a regular basis.

Solution to above discussion, Buy the Wii, get Giftcard, buy games. Problem solved, that's the use for it.

Personally already have a Wii in the living room. If they just had a black wii, then I'd get one for my room.

I don't know...even if your some broke ass idiot who spent his last $200 on a wii and a $50 GC you'll still have no issues surviving. Last time I was at wally world Ramen was going for 10/$1 using the simple math skills youngters lack these days along with rational thinking, thats about 450-500 packages of ramen(depending on sales tax) nothing like being fed 3 times a day for half the year on your Wii instant rebate....

Solution: Buy Wii, get giftcard, use giftcard to get WalMart Greendot card, you now have at least $45 that you can spend anywhere.

My only qualm with this deal is that I try to spend as little at WallyWorld as possible.

FWIW I think the OP posted a good deal, and while it wasn't worded 100% correct I wouldn't bust his chops for it. I mean there's a Ebay BCB 20% off thread that has better response, and that's a waiting game sometimes compared to instant gratification of the GC.
