The story popped up yesterday that Google’s CEO was now using Twitter so I went on over to check it out…and that’s when I noticed he follows Lady GaGa. What the?!?! To each his own, I just can’t picture dude jammin’ to Paparazzi or Poker Face. Heh, good for a laugh though.
 
What's funny (and strangely sad) about this is a guy will be commenting on the mundane activities of someone who, in about a year's time, has reached iconic status. That's a component of fame, I guess: people become interested in stupid trivialities like she likes her coffee, what time she goes to bed etc.

In a broader sense, I think the public has reached transitional phase where we're eff-ing sick of the plastic, bubblegum bullshit that has pervaded the airwaves for so long. Even if you try to avoid the mainstream as much as possible, you still are bombarded with this drivel everyday. I do think Lady Gaga understands this and her entire raison d'etre thus far has been to poke fun at our obsession with fame, looks, money etc. At the same time, she's largely brought back the core parts that are good about fashion and live performance. Bonus that she's one of the only non-manufactured pop stars who a) writes her own music b) can play an instrument and c) can dance d) doesn't use auto-tune e) has great (ass)ets.

Not a huge fan (hell, I'm mostly into metal...), but those are my thoughts. My g/f is really into her (and actually went to school with her for a hot minute) -- she kind of got me interested in her stuff. I also think there are a lot of smart (yes, straight) guys out there with good taste in music who like her, usually because their g/f's introduced them.
 
so is lady gaga the new madonna then? cause every hot girl i know listens to lady gaga
 
I just thought Marilyn Manson finally made it all the way over to female when I saw her for the first time. Speaking of which...where is Marilyn Manson? Hmmmm....the mystery continues.
 
ive actually got a video of a piano performance lady gaga did before she was lady gaga.... she was a classical pianist, extremely cute, and had a hell of a voice.... wow how things change

Yeah, she's making a boat load more money! I think Lady GaGa is great, what can I say, I like chick pop/jive.

Just because someone is very popular and does dance/pop doesn't mean they aren't classically trained. Look up Flavor Flav's history sometime.
 
Sorry. Meant to say that Flavor Flav was a self taught piano prodigy. Alicia Keys, meanwhile, was classically trained IIRC.

For now but Madonna has been around for going on 3 decades, we'll have to see if Lady GaGa has that kind of longevity but she's well on her way.
 
I had no clue who this Lady Gaga was until a few weeks ago when I heard the "poker face" song on the radio at the gym, the song sucked thus I would surmise that being one of her most known songs that all of her music sucks. I am not up on pop culture thus her looks and antics are not of my knowledge or concern.

ok i agree. i just wanted to know so i can act like im happenin at a party or whatever, not because im gay like some immature posters might say. of course, if youre really gay, you are probably insecure enough to call other people gay.
