Loving it. Fraggin zombies while the haters post in the forums. :p

More to the point, who even cares.

Valve sure doesn't. The boycotters won't even put a dint in the sales.

Not boycotting, just not buying the same ole game again for the same ole price.
i voted YES since i was originally boycotting it but now i just dont feel like it's worth $40 for a reskin with some extra features.

ive heard 2 is a LOOOOT better than 1, but l4d1 was boring after a month. i prolly played it less than 5 hours since the 2nd month

2 is better, but not really by leaps and bounds. It's more playful and a bit more engaging, and there are some nice additions, but there also annoyances. The melee timer being chief among them.

But nothing that should have been packaged as a stand alone game.

Im still not buying it but for different reasons than most of you guys are. Im not buying any other game from Valve or Steam until HL2 ep3 is released. I WANT MY EP3 DAMMIT!

L4D should have been cheaper at launch.

L4D2 is worth the cost of admission, and in my opinion, could NOT have been done as DLC. It is larger than L4D is, even with the stuff they have added since the original's launch.

I liked the demo. I never was a boycotter, but I will probably pick this up when it is cheaper.

You guys are seriously missing out. 5 new campaigns. The campaigns are longer. The settings are better. The graphics are better. There's a storyline. There's a KATANA. The physics of zombie dismemberment is better. It really is a great game and a hell of a lot of fun.

If you didn't like L4D1 then complain about L4D1. If you think it was too short, complain that it was too short. Has NOTHING to do with L4D2 being worth the money. You should never add the expectation of free downloadable content into your internal cost/benefit process for purchasing a video game.

I agree. This new game isn't worthy of the full price.

Valve should have released each individual mission separately, and charged ten dollars for each one. That would have been fair.

You're wasting your energy.

Nobody loves to complain about his own hobby more than a PC gamer.

x2

I found the first VERY stale. part 2 is a ton of fun though :)

haha i forgot aboutt he physics, the first time I watch a group of zombies explode form a pipebomb I laughed so hard, way better watching zombies and their body partsfly past you when they explode tha just watching a mist of red from l4d1

The game seriously isn't worth it. If they put half the effort into making that game that they did for Half-Life 2 we might have something, but no thanks. You keep keep your lowered expectations for Left 4 Dead 3 and set the bar even lower. If they can hold out features on games, I can hold out with my money.

I dont see why i should return to l4d, second one is much better, i like the new maps, weapons etc, bosses are damn more fun now in vs.. im tired of all campers and boring maps.

So you're willing to buy a new game then. In the past those were updates to games and tweaks. When you're bored with 2 are you willing to buy their 6 month update for another 50 bucks?

I don't recall playing Half Life 2 for more than the time it took to beat it.

I did not "boycott" it vocally as many have done, but I will still not be purchasing it.

I prefer the first game to the second, and just do not feel that there is really need for another...

lol shoot a hunter, while he's jumping at you, with explosive rounds

he'll go flying to the other side of the level lol

haha I'll try, I know one of my friends shot a regular zombie with an explosive round. The legs/arms/head went to the side but the torso went flying past our head, it was gold :p

There's actually a very sizable amount of content here. In reality, a lot of it is new, even down to sound effects, music, models, textures, skins and so forth. There are three or four times as many weapons in L4D2 as there were in L4D1. Zombies now lose limbs in a fairly amusing way. The new zombies are interesting additions even if some of them are similar to others (the Dodger's basically a big Hunter). Various graphical improvements throughout, including some rather nice blood "streamers". The maps are solidly designed, and they're generally bigger than those in L4D1, more detailed, and more numerous.

Is it worth $50? I don't know about that, but it doesn't feel like a $30 expansion either. Feels like a solid $40 game to me.

Yeah, there are some nice touches with the physics now. I especially like the way zombies float in pools of water. Seems trivial, but the way they float around never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Seeing as i wasn't interested in the first game, why would I buy the second one, so in effect I'm boycotting the sequel:D

$50? No way. Then again I didn't pay that for L4D or L4D2. I certainly got far more then $50 worth of playtime in L4D though.

Throwing Boomer bile in the The Parish after setting off ALL the car alarms is quite amusing. Especially if you have a grenade launcher or bladed melee weapon. :D

You folk can enjoy your boycott. All you're doing is not enjoying a good game, and when you do eventually buy the game you'll just realize that you could have been having a blast all that time you were butthurt about not enough FREE content.

I can understand wanting to boycott MW2, but I thought the L4D2 boycott was lame. I can understand not wanting to buy basically the same game only one year later, but no need for a boycott.

Never bought the first one and won't be buying the second because I tried the demo of the first one and thought the respawning shit was lame. If I kill a zombie in a game then it better stay dead.

I paid $50 for the first one and don't really think I got my money out of it. The second one looks like it's more or less worth $50 but on principal I'm going to wait until I can get it for $25-30.

It's on my holiday wish list so if someone else buys it for me I'm cool with that.

You could have done a group buy and got it for $33

I'm sticking to my boycott... of the boycotters :p Haven't bought the game yet but I probably will for christmas when steam runs their year end sales.

Like I've said before, I got L4D for 30 bucks and for the amount of hours I got out of it, the price was more than worth it.

I was hesitant on throwing down $50 on a game I wasn't sure how much new content It would bring but after reading the reviews and seeing the $30 Dell deal I had to jump on it.

Still waiting for it in the mail but from what I've read and how much I enjoyed L4D1 I can't imagine that I won't enjoy L4D2. Since I only got L4D1 for $30 it was hard to be bitter about the short lifespan.

I never really planned to boycott this game, but I doubt I would've bought it for the full $50 retail. The pre-order 4 pack was a fair price ($33 or w/e) imo.

Im not buying it.

I was not impressed at all with how fast Valve dropped L4D. The very existence of L4D2 as a stand alone is a joke. It should have been an upgrade or atleast offered as a discount for those who purchased the original.

Though, I dont buy many games these days. Its hard to feel good about spending your money these days. If you look at how CODmw2 has been handled, or the recycled overpriced games from EA, you always feel like your getting screwed.

For an industry that claims to be against piracy, they sure know how to point their customers towards it.

Not really. Pirating a game (almost always) indicates a want for it. If you don't want to pay for it through legal channels, that's your prerogative. Don't use shitty developers as an excuse to pirate though.

first one wasnt that great i bought it for 15 dollars and i still feel like i didnt get my 15 dollars out of it. Will prob get l4d2 if it drops to 10.

L4D2 is worth buying for the Guardin' Gnome acheivement on Dark Carnival alone.

It's the most fun I've had in a game for a long time, great teamwork required (played with a Dutchman, Frenchman and a Brit) - either help protect the person carrying the gnome or carry yourself. Chompski makes a good melee weapon too. The Midnight Riders concert finale is heart stoppingly terrific, running from multiple Tanks with a garden gnome in-hand to the chopper got my adreneline pumping like very few games have. ;)

Sticking to my boycott, I tried the L4D2 demo and it was exactly the same as L4D1 with new skins.

Valve made a game which in my opinion was not worth full price, yet I bought it because valve said in video interviews that there would be more maps, more special infected, more guns etc.

So with Valves promise, and them having a history of providing additional content after the game has sold and Gabe saying he's trying to push "games as a service", I bought the game. So valve basically blew it, they've essentially ignored their promises and re-sold the same concept again with only very minor tweaks, most of them insignificant to general gameplay. Yes I've played the demo and it's pretty underwhelming.

Don't get me wrong, if they want to release games which are lacking in content (for their price) then go ahead, that's fine, that's absolutely fine, I'm just not going to buy it! I was duped once and learnt my lesson, only buy valve products that are worth it up front, I won't ever forget that, irrelevant of what they "promise" in future.

When L4D2 is 50% off at least I might grab a copy, thats how much I think their content is worth to me, if you think differently then thats fine. But I have better and MUCH longer/bigger games to spend my hard earned money on. So until the amount of content increases to match the price, or the price drops to match the amount of content I will continue to buy other games with much greater value for money.

To put it in perspetive, valve spent about a year re-making L4D with mostly reused code from L4D1, and Bioware spent years and years making Dragon Age Origins with a 60 hour + singleplayer with loads of replayability, and both cost £30, no competition really.

Interesting poll. 63 people officially boycotting it and 50 or so people not boycotting it but not interested in buying it.
