Rumors of a Google phone have once again popped up on the internet. Would you guys buy a Google phone? I’m not talking about an Android powered phone, I mean a phone actually made for or by Google.

Google is working on releasing a Google-branded Android phone sometime in early 2010 that will be sold directly to consumers at retail, presumably bypassing wireless carriers. Such a phone is supposedly being built by a manufacturing partner with the intent that Google's brand will dominate the phone.

As a central point to manage multiple phones and/or as a replacement of a landline, I'd consider it. Doubtful I'd leave Verizon.

A GSM version would make things easy. I would almost buy one just to take a stab at developing some Android apps.

I don't particularly care who makes a/the phone as long as it does what I want it to do.

Hmmmmm... So would this mean an Android phone that doesn't have to have Verizon's Data plan if you don't want it?

I'd get the phone if it was free. :p

Paid for by Google Ads :p.

I like google for searching, and have heard good things about google voice, but that doesn't mean they are ready for cellphones. From what I have read they have a ways to go with Android as it is, so I would pass.

Micheal Arrington is arrogant tool just trying to up his ad revenue. End of story.

They already have a bunch of those. Every major carrier has an Android phone except AT&T. Google will even sell you an unlocked G1 directly as a developer phone, which you could then use on AT&T if you wanted. I've got a Samsung Galaxy and HTC Magic that were imported (weren't released state side at the time) running on AT&T's network no problems.

Why would they want to do this? Phone without a subsidy would be expensive, where's the pay off for Google?

An Android phone on Verizon without a data plan? Really?

Would I buy a Gphone?

HELL NO!

People already complain about MS having too much of our information but think about how much data Google collects about us, and then a phone made by them? Yeah, no thanks.

2 questions arise then. Will there be a Gspot button on the phone? Will I be able to find that button?
