L4D2 Releases Tonight @ 09:00pm

I'm so sick and tired of them.... they will have some shitty excuse. For me its about the principle. They were late with the demo so I had them refund my money for my pre-order. Looks like I'll be asking for yet another refund... good thing I snagged a pdf of their site with the release times on it. This is about the only thing you can do, waste their time with refunds and blast them in the forums till they get a clue.

I work as a software developer, granted not games... but web applications which have similar complications... repeatedly missing deadlines gets you fucking fired in the real world.

This is a great point. They ALWAYS miss their deadlines and get the hopes of their communities up, and then just shrug it off and continue. I can't think of any other company that does this so nonchalantly. I'd imagine if I continuously missed deadlines, my ass would indeed get canned and replaced.

So thats why, eh Gabe?

Well being late on the demo is one thing, being late on the actual game is another thing all-together. Not that I'm surprised. ;)

I know it's only been 20 minutes since the deadline, but I thought this was supposed to be a big part of why Steam is supposed to be so great. It's really pathetic how badly Valve misses their deadlines. It seems to me they don't really care that much either.

Yeah, you have to kind of expect Valve to not release something on time, it has happened with every major release in the past i.e. Half Life 2 and the episodes. Now, if the game is not out by tomorrow on Steam, then that's another thing to be really pissed about.

Maybe Kyle can get an interview and ask WTH... we are all tired of being burnt. I think there should be a good article about PC gamers and how we are being pushed out of the picture and threatened by console gaming and bad ports, and missed deadlines, hosed patches etc....

It is just a game and nothing important and if you complain you look like a raging computer nerd. I bet you that is their thinking.

Seriously. I love a lot of things about Valve, but I never saw as much as a single word of apology over the demo delay.

I'm not gonna lie - I'm not too worried. I just did a shit-ton of math homework, brain could use some games or sleep, I don't care which. There's also supposed to be a meteor shower tonight... unless, of course, the heavens delayed it! :p

Their thinking, or yours as well? Because the whole "just a game" excuse doesn't hold a lot of water when I spend $50 for a product and am promised a certain date and time for its delivery. I work for that money.

When they refunded my account for the demo the person said and I quote "you wouldn't have enjoyed the demo anyway". As smug as that was, it didn't really apply because they didn't release it... so obviously I didn't enjoy it at all in this scenario either. Maybe they just dont "get it". I was always told if you say you are going to do something you damn well better do it or try like fury...

alright I'm out.... Valve has once again waisted my time and money.

This is the page to watch, until it says it's released, there's no point in restarting Steam:

*edit* Link removed due to giant ASCII Penis. It's the L4D2 official group events page. You can find it via the community tab in steam. :p

I could care less what you do on the internet. I don't know you so who cares. I got the 360 version so this doesn't affect me at all. I don't think it is right either and that you got the shaft regardless of what the product is or how much yous pent. I love valve games but this isn't going to win them any accolades from people who haven't been with them since half life 1.

But you know well enough valve always delay the release even of HL2 which is their flagship game.

Wasn't there a... wait here it is:

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me

Does that cover it?

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

The rage is strong over the release of this game, I just peeked over to the Valve official steam group and clicked on some the developer's profile. And you have a bunch of random people just plastering their anger all over their comments section. They know how to make the group invite only, but don't know how to set their profiles to friends only comments, lol.

Ripped from the L4D2 Community Group Chat:

mikeblas: We've found a crashing bug at the last moment.
mikeblas: We think it's fixed, but aren't sure, and are testing.
mikeblas: We'll release the game when we're sure we have a fix.

looks like a lot of people are playing it.

Steam is probably just logjammed trying to get everybody going

no no no no... those aren't just people those are VALVE EMPLOYEES. So, of course they're playing it while their support system get what we are getting now... nothing

A bug? haven't they been working on this game for ages? Hasn't there been a demo out for weeks? haven't Valve employees been play testing this game for ages?

Whoa, that's true... freaking awesome. We've got Valve employees on [H]! Well, atleast 1, from what I am seeing.

Waaaah I have to wait a few more hours to play L4D2. Are you people for real? It will unlock when it's fixed. Go download some more pron while you wait.

A true [H]ard member has porn on local storage, in case the porn servers go down like Steam (pun). ;)

lol lets keep it classy and not harass the valve employees/suspected employees. ^_^

This happens on every valve steam release game and we all should of prepared for it.

This is great you guys even made an anticipation thread. Damn have you never purchased a Valve product before? You really thought this was coming out at 9?
