I have added to the flock....

Dell mini 10v - Hackintoshed, obviously, but dual-booting Win7.

Next to Dell Axim X50-mid, T-Mobile G1 [personal], Sanyo Pro-700 [work].

And I did get around to cleaning up my desk (after moving/buying a house).

And now having a 24" LCD.

Everex, still running strong, also with Win7, for now - soon to go back to VistaHP.

posted these in the comp audio forum but figured you guys like pics too lol

*snip*

Very cool, very tiny, now how about some info/specs on that little Sony bastige... eh? :D

Recently had the chance to use/outfit a client's Sony TZ which was maxed out with everything you can get in one: 4GB, 64GB SSD (mind you that thing is nearly 2 years old and the original owner paid over $3800 for the laptop), 8x optical drive, 11.1" brilliant gorgeous LCD (razor thin at about 6mm, carbon fiber backing), WWAN card, Wi-Fi, Core 2 Duo, etc etc...

Oh geez that thing is pure sex.

Apple couldn't design one that sexy or useful if they tried, at any price. :D Though I don't own one (I sure as hell wish I did now that I had the chance to use one for a short period of time), here's a pic regardless... (not my pic, didn't think to snap off some shots when I had it in my possession... DOH!!!)

Needless to say I definitely want one, even in spite of its age. It's the only semi-ultraportable I want at this point considering all it can do - but I do have to admit that Nokia Booklet is one damned damned fine Netbook. The TZ plays 720p content without breaking a sweat and that LCD is truly magnificent. Yes I miss the damned thing... bleh. ;) He's got the extended battery also so with both batteries fully charged his TZ is good for about 11 hours of usage total with Windows 7 on it and using the power profiles I created.

Pure sex, indeed.

I'm at my parents house so I only have my notebook with me. It's an older gateway that I picked up from Best Buy for less then $250 2.5 years ago. Over time I have upgraded it so it can keep up with modern software.

original config:

vista basic
celeron m 520 1.6ghz
512mb ddr2 533
80gb 5400rpm hdd

up to date config:

windows 7 ultimate
core duo T2500 2ghz
2gb ddr2 533mhz
250gb 7200rpm

I think its pretty decent spec wise for 2009

anyways I saw I had a left over 360 controller and I was bored so I looked through my steam games and saw I had Flatout. I was like okay lets see if we can get this to work on intel 945gm graphics.

20min later I was playing at great fps with a generic 360 controller. I was amazed it was actually playable and even more surprised how fun it was with the controller. I've been playing the game for the last 3 hours now lol.

now some pics:

pretty impressive, right? :D

KSC-75 BABY!!! Best audio value ever, IMHO... still have 7 unopened packages of 'em in the closet just in case my current working pair gets borked (they have a lifetime warranty "No Questions Asked" anyway if they do so they'd get replaced).

Cleared out Radio Shack earlier this year when they put 'em on final clearance for $7 out the door. Wish I had more actually, would dump 'em on fleaBay for about $12.50 a pair and make a nice profit.

Nice job on the lappy though...

Nice, looks like you have an antec notebook cooler under there.

Yep I got the antec cooler. Its really good for keeping my notebook nice and chill. Without it it gets super hot especially where the hard drive and the northbridge chip sit. With it everything stays nice and agreeable.

hahaha its funny you bring up the radio shack clearance. i picked up half a dozen or so as well :D

they are indeed amazing headphones for the price. and the life time warranty is great. I will be making use of it for a LONG time. Thanks radioshack lol.

I have a page about it on my site but 512MB ram (488 usable or something) 933MHz crusoe, 6.4" 1024x768 screen, pretty slick little laptop. I need a faster hard drive for it though (has an ancient 1.8" one). Those TT and TZ ones look awesome, I've got a T and it looks ancient in comparison lol

Yeah HP Compaq 311c arrived today =]

*snip*

3GB ram upgrade, Windows 7 Pro x86, Wireless N.

Very nice, very nice. If nothing else, you take some absolutely fantastic photos of your hardware... ;) Good job.

Just to ask: any chance of that one with the "Home" key in a larger format? That would make a great wallpaper if you can manage it... thanks

I bought it from Overclockers UK :)

I got a bag for it todaywhich houses all cables, spare digicam + cables, cloths/ memsticks, spare wifi adapter and other stuff, awesomeness!

A590 IS, I won it in a Getty Gallery Photography competition in a national paper a while back :p

It's running CHDK so videos are actually very good quality but I use it for quick snaps and stuff!

Ahh okay, my bad. Didn't realize the two looked so similar.

I disagree that Apple couldn't design a system as sexy and useful, but it depends on the context. Obviously, if you value built-in 3G and optical storage, something on the order of the TZ can be a good value. But the MacBook Air has a faster Core 2 Duo S, GeForce 9400M video, and a 120GB hard drive all in a thinner package for $1,500.

My real question is why Sony decided that the VAIO X, an Atom-based netbook on steroids, would be its replacement for the TZ. It's supremely light, but it's almost like conceding the field to Apple when it didn't have to be that way.

robbiekhan, I'm not bashing your laptop at all. Heck, it's totally teh secks

But does compaq still have a bad reputation? I've avoided them a lot as of late, and the years before, but have they finally cleaned up their act and gotten some nice stuff out there?

HP bought them, and they do have some decent products albeit for a budget minded consumer.

The 311c feels/looks pro and rightly so, it is a fine piece of kit :p

It feels better than my Samsung NC10 that's for sure.

Just arrived, specs are in sig and I have no idea why people hate the trackpad. Sure it's chrome but it works fine aside from fingerprints.

I've seen no difference between it and my sony z or T61. Of course, that's my opinion....not right, not wrong.

Yes 13", $1250 total with tax and including the 2 year accidental protection.

Same laptop as before, but I replaced the regular screen with a transparent one.
You guys should try this with your notebooks- it's a lot of fun (and worth the challenge)!

I got a little sloppy and you can see the TV doesn't quite match up but it's better than my first attempt:

hey, thats my laptop!

That truely was a fantastic laptop especially for the time that it came out. Got it in 07 I believe, imported from Japan. Only 2GB or RAM and 32GB SSD. I could not believe how tiny and light it was even with the mid size battery at just 2.5lbs. Next to my MBP, sexiest laptop ever had.

My laptop was getting a bit lonely since my desktop died, so I got it a friend: a Gateway 10.1" netbook with Windows 7 Starter edition (I'll be upgrading to Home Premium probably next week)

What I don't like about '7 starter, is that you can't change the wallpaper. Its better than Vista or XP though.
