Hey guys I installed MW2 and whenever I try to play it, it just freezes when the Infinity Ward logo shows up.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and upgrading the graphics drivers. Nothing works?

Any ideas?

UPDATE: It seems that now I can get into the main menu but of course my keyboard and mouse stop working...

ANYONE who gives me the working solution, Ill paypal them $10!!

UPDATE 2!!!!: I finally got it to work!! Apparently all you have to do is leave the program open for a few minutes and it just starts to work. Its retarded I know but it works. THanks for all the help guys!!

I can't help yet, it's still installing, but a few more details might help.
Steam download, or retail disc? What version of windows?

Sorry I forgot to change the sig. I'm running on Win 7 and used a retail disc.

Also it freezes on the Infinity Ward logo right at the beginning.

From what I've read on IW forums and other places. Windows 7 x64 and Vista x64 are hit or miss if you game will work. They apparently have given the shaft to those of us using 64bit OS's

Its not trolling if its true. but your right, this is not the place.
sorry, cant delete.

I'll give it a shot on my win7 x64 when I get home. I would try the following, locate the cod.exe file and right click to go into properties. Try running it as an admin and if that doesn't work try turning on compatibility mode for xp or vista and see if that works.

I've installed it on a Win 7 64 bit build, and No problems what so ever. Look elsewhere other than the software/game for problems 1st....

I ran the single player as an admin and it works. The same trick doesnt work for the Multiplayer though. The game seems to start up fine but I cant use my mouse.

...this sucks

On a side note any of you guys know how to install new Cat drivers on Win 7 without getting that stupid MOM implementation error?

Looks like I'll be getting the Xbox 360 version then, too bad.

That doesn't make any sense at all. It's almost always something on the user end whether it's drivers, overclocking, or something other than what operating system they're using.

Your probably right on this one. I havent upgraded to the new Cat drivers yet. I just cant seem to install them without the MOM implementation error coming up and then CCC doesnt work right.

No, the very nature of PC gaming is that some users will have a worse experience than others because hardware/driver mismatches can cause problems with a game.

For my older system (a HP Slimline), it took about a full 3 min for CoD4 to load up... But only 15sec for CoD5.

I haven't tried on my newer system, yet.

Running on the sig rig, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. I did have an issue with the nVidia 195.39 beta drivers, the game simply would run for a bit than a lot of graphical corruption and then the game would hand. Went back to the 191.07 and all is good. No SLI support at the moment by default but the game is running great at 1920x1299 all maxed out except 2xAA.

I'm just at a complete loss. The setpoint and ati drivers are up to date. I upgraded the directx. Every other game works.

Who ever can give me the right answer Ill paypal them some money

i think the best bet is to get it on a console. seems like alot of problems will come from this on pc.. it is a shame i am sure the game would look great on pc too

Did you try using the XP mode within Windows 7?

google XP mode Windows 7 and see what you come up with, that might solve your problem.

but on the other hand you shoulda been smarter than to buy this game based on the nearly 2k+ posts on it for the PC version.

How do you expect him to play a game like this in a VM?...

ouch, I just googled it myself, I didn't realize that "xp mode" ran inside a VM

I thought it was something else, I guess I shoulda read up on that before posting :p

I'll go sit in my corner now.

My new problem is now whenever I go into the game, I get to the main screen then everything just freezes.

Have you tried running it in Vista compatibility mode? If that's even possible. Also, you could try making a new user account and see if it runs. make sure it's not some user setting that's causing the issue. don't know if setpoint drivers would be the issue, but you could also try uninstalling them if you're getting desperate.

retail on laptop, steam download on desktop, both on x64 both working fine, good luck man. game rocks btw.

I can't get it to run either. Freezes at IW logo. Or if I skip that part, freezes at main menu. I hate IW.

I tried those fixes and none of them work for me...

Man what is up with my computer? Everyone is having fun already!!!

Installed it on my i7 machine with Vista 64bit. Works fine. Doesn't work on my C2D machine with XP 32bit. Strange.
