NVIDIA Website Dedicated To Mocking Intel?

I don't find any of them funny. Instead, I find them desperate, dry, and every other derogatory adjective you can think of.

Is this a bad idea given that Intel licenses from Nvidia their SLI technology (or software-that-locks-specific-systems-to-SLI-and-PhysX)?

... Because Intel could just turn its back away from Nvidia on this, and not include SLI-compatibilty in their upcoming chipsets...

ATi has done its share of relabeling cards, exactly like nVidia has done now. No one is innocent here. Intel has knowingly and willingly limited the growth of the PC market and negatively affected competition as well as forcing customers to pay more for their PCs.

Intel is the big criminal here right now, the rest are small fry at best.

Yeah, that was what, the X1900GT, so about 2-3 years ago (or 4 generations)?

The comic appears to be Nvidia having sour grapes because it doesn't have a license to produce x86 parts/can't, so they're taking a leaf out Apple's book. Mudslinging.

I agree with techrat: Nvidia deserves every drop of ire until they clean their act up.

How does nVidia hope to gain anything with this among the knowledgeable tech community who actually knows their stuff and would spend big bucks on nVidia's products? What on earth do they expect to gain?

I'm at least 20-30% less proud of my GTX 295 right now ... blocking physx? blocking lucid? How is that going to help them one bit?!?!

I guarantee if I'd shelled out extra money for an nVidia physx card, even though I have a primary ATI graphics card, done the work to get everything working, only to have nVidia block it at the driver level later, they are NOT going to motivate me to go out and buy an nVidia card to replace my primary ATI card. They will be motivating me to NEVER support physx or nVidia again.

And if I have the new BigBang motherboard with Lucid's tech in it, and my nVidia card just stops working with new drivers because nVidia put in a block, do you think this will motivate me to go to the store, buy a new nVidia or Intel SLI motherboard, and another nVidia graphics card?? Again, this wouldn't do ANYTHING other than piss me off at nVidia and NEVER buy from them in the future.

This really makes sense... Now that competition is seriously heating up, let's piss all our current customers off, and make fun of future potential tech partnerships in the process. "Let's burn bridges with EVERYONE!!!"

Does anyone else find this as strikingly asinine as I do? I just stare blankly and ask myself, "why ..??"

Pretty funny for sure :)

But all intel has to do, is not pay for SLI royalty on there mobo's anymore, and nvidia is SOL.

I mean seriously, if Lucid can do it without the need for nvidia SLI Tech. Well then Nvidia is totally fucked.

It's not like they are making SLI amd mobo's anymore.

I give nvidia maybe 1-2 years tops with intel mobo's with SLI tech.

Remember previous posts, though. nVidia's looking like they're gonna do their best to block Lucid. I know we'll find workarounds in the tech community, but still, with Lucid you can still use nVidia cards. If nVidia blocks it, that motivates me to NOT buy more nVidia...

Yea it is pretty stupid that crossfire works on any mobo with 2 pci-e slots,

But nvidia you need to buy a specific SLI mobo.

which is why I hope lucid takes off, then we wont need the special mobo's.

Either way yea...nvidia is making me not want to buy anymore products they produce

I am beginning to fee like Stan on that High School musical episode...it seems the "cool" and "in" thing to do right now is to put down Nvidia so I need to start practicing some stupid comments to show the others that I am cool too....man really, this whole Nvidia bashing thing is getting VERY old guys, time to give it a rest dont you think?

Apparently, nV doesn't need any assistance making colossally stupid comments...

When you (nV) release crap products and shoot your mouth off, you invite this sort of banter.

The only thing old here is nV's crap. It will continue as long as stupid consumers continue to purchase their garbage.

The hilarious thing is the whois info... they've gone for an anonymous registration (of course) but used their own dns servers on nvidia.com...

Way to stay anon :)

Wow, thanks Nvidia for making my next and future choice for Video Cards so easy. ATI.
Thanks Nvidia.
Douchebags.

Yeah everyone let's be PC on this topic because we can't think for ourselves as a Television show has the correct point of view that we all need to follow.
[/Sarcasm]

This is why people need to stop watching Television so much. It's poison to the mind.

I find it mildly entertaining. Entertaining in the way you see a drunk at a bar who is out of control, and just decided to pick a fight with the biggest toughest guy you have ever seen in your life. You know it's going to end badly for the drunk, and you probably should do something to stop it. Yet, part of you figures "Eh, the asshole has it coming" so you stand back and can't turn away from the oncoming trainwreck. Will Intel retaliate? I somehow doubt it, though if they decided they could crush Nvidia underfoot pretty quickly. A combination of Vendor lockouts, and some intense litigation I am sure would be all that's needed. Someone should teach the drunk a lesson though...

You know Intel could do that by offering to buy out Nvidia Share Holders at $20 a share. If AMD could buy ATI, so could Intel to Nvidia.
That would teach the drunk a lesson.

You're still spouting this nonsense?? Oh god -_-

Did anybody here with a 3000-series card see it show up as a 4000-series card after updating their catalyst drivers? No. Furthermore, all of that driver fud is incorrect, as it clearly labels the 4750 as an RV630 chip, which would have limited it to a maximum of 320 stream processors.

The last time ATi rebadged WAS the X1000 series. We would see things like X1300-series cards get cores from the first waves of X1600-series and whatnot. However as far as the X1900GT/X1950 Pro thing goes... die shrink. Same clocks and specs, k, fine. You could argue that, but nobody argues that a GF 9800GTX+ is a rebadged 9800GTX...

The comic is in bad taste, but it really isn't any worse than any of the marketing tactics Intel, AMD, ATI, Nvidia, Apple, or Microsoft have used before. They're all guilty. That's marketing.

Funny how the site is aimed at Intel but SAYS it is aimed at the industry...

Nvidia is just begging to get it up the ass from every possible angle.

Funny and effective...yet pretty base...has worked in politics for centuries

Not even funny in the slightest. The only funny thing I see is that your running a processor from a company that hasn't been able to design a processor that competes directly with Intel for the past 4 years......
Sure they had their moment with Athlon in 1999-2004, but that's all behind them now. The only thing they can bank on is having ATI and that's the only thing I like from them anymore.

if its marketing, isn't it suppose to buy more Nvidia product or buy less Intel products? It does neither...

well that does it.. the last straw nVidia.. I was intending on getting and ATI 5k series card for my annual upgrade anyway based solely on Arma2 performance but now that purchase is more of a moral decision. I am done giving nvidia my money, regardless of performance, i can deal with a small FPS discrepancy.

nVidia has been flexing it's marketing muscle for too long and is starting to have the stink of 3DFx, make bold claims, check... piss off the userbase check...release overpriced products , check...

quite frankly i dont blame intel for refusing an x86 license to nvidia.. with the shit that they have been slinging about how the cpu will be irrelevant and that peope will no longer need to use intels products in the future.. and yet they needed a license from that very company to produce parts to use that very irrelevant piece.. comical really. how does a board keep letting these people speak publicly?

call me troll if you like, call me a commie, call me whatever,

Peace

And I see your running an SLI board..wtf is your point?

That 5750/70 is looking really enticing now.

I immediately ran a whois just to be sure, and I'll be damned if Nvidia wasn't hosting the dns for this. A few things strike me as odd.

1. The site, as a whole, is very childish. Like it was thrown together after an all night "board bender".

2. It's funny to think this is a company who used to pride itself on cycles and punching out innovative (or at least comparative products) on a yearly basis with a given refresh to the hardware halfway through the year. This is what the mighty nVidia has been reduced to?

3. Granted, this is probably a joke, but it's emblematic of the problems when a company begins to fall behind. ATI/AMD, as far as I'm concerned, has been kicking the hell of out nVidia for the past few cycles, and it's starting to show strain at NV HQ as far as I'm concerned. Where the DX11 card, guys? Bulldozer and Larabee will only add more heat to the fire. GF300 better perform guys.

I used to love nVidia's chips and appreciated what the company did, but I'm nearing the end of the life my current system (8600 GT 1GB, GF7050 based Mobo) and need to upgrade. I'm sure nVidia won't be in the mix when I'm ready to build.

nvidia's been acting pretty damn childish for awhile now. frankly, they've turned me off from buying their products.

AMD Processors aren't nothing compared to what Intel puts out.

And exactly what does that have to do with the topic? Oh that's right nothing. You should consider heading to the Intel forum, where your pointless mid thread rants will be met with high fives, and general hobknobbing behavior like "good one bro" or "QFT".

to be honest if a couple months from now, Nvidia puts out a superior product most of us would still buy it cause by then we would've forgotten all about this.

This is stupid! Nvidia and Intel should be working together, because their products are both great. I don't think I'm going to purchase Nvidia in the future if they keep up this crap. Its basically like they are pulling a Britney Spears when she shaved her head bald to get attention.

I dont get the big deal here, Who the hell cares what companies say/do about other companies?

The strong survive and the weak get their asses kicked, Its worked fine for thousands of years...

Not funny, and since when does NVIDIA have the right to insult?

Benchmark enhanced drivers? Hoax hardware demos? Countless releases of faulty hardware?

I'm done with NVIDIA until they decide to start ethically competing. I'd fire the entire marketing department for this stunt.

I agree with some of what you say, and what another poster said above. Where is the innovation? Where is the kick-butt competitive product release cycle? Those are things that win my dollars - NOT mudslinging.

I purchased a Macbook Pro DESPITE Apple's tasteless advertising, and believe me, because of their crap commercials I actually nearly reconsidered several times. I can't believe people still can't rise above this.

The only tasteful mudslinging I've seen lately, and it's borderline, is the new iDon't commercial from Verizon. Even though VZ's not making that phone, the commercial hits the nail on the head for almost every major complaint folks have against the iPhone and pointing out something new that has every single on of those features. nVidia is not doing this. They're complaining against other companies for doing the same anti-competitive crap they practice themselves. Bleh....

1995 to you!

CPU's are irrelevant.

Get off planet crack pipe.

Really? Last time I checked they seem to be required to build a PC. You could be the first one to try it by chucking that piece of crap AMD out of your machine.

Not taking sides, but wasn't Nvidia nailed for price fixing a while back? Just thought I'd point out the irony.

No, their was a lawsuit filed about this but it fell through because it wasn't true. It was all based on some email where an exec from AMD and an exec from NVIDIA mentioned working together to further the status of the GPU... nothing to do with price.
