Haven't seen many posts about this, but is anyone else pumped about Serious Sam HD? I miss some good ol' Serious Sam and mindless killing now in high res. Should be out soon.

I'm hoping it's no more than $20 and available on Steam.

That is a great promo video. I, for one, am really excited about the 6005 polygons per krundle resolution, geez that's mind-boggling! Glad I have dual 4850s.

Some of the scene are impressive, others less so. Maybe its because of the desert landscape, so they tend to look similar to the old ones, heh.

The Second Encounter might be more impressive

But ultimately, I'm eagerly waiting for the next squeal to the series:D

I seriously doubt you would need dual of anything. Its coming to 360 arcade. SS has always been a fantastic scalable game as far as graphics go. I dont know if I could play something as fast as SS on the 360, will probably be picking this up on the PC.

So is this just a direct re-make of the original with high res textures and more detailed models?

Steam release looks very likely. Will cost $15. They posted a gold announcement yesterday for the PC version, but removed it soon afterwards... What exactly that means I have no idea (waiting on the X360 version, maybe?), but it shouldn't be that far off.

Just found out the PC version will have at least sixteen player co-op. This just gets better and better :D .

16 player co-op FTMFW!!! cant wait for this game.. talk about reviving one of the greatest games EVER!!.. why couldnt they do this with other games..

I hadn't heard about this before. I've missed ol' Sam, it will be good to get back to mowing down hordes of midless enemies.

I recently got and played Serious Sam 2. It's fun, but the longer you go the more repetitive and tired you get. Just throwing enemy after enemy at you gets really old.

Looks like it. Every comparison shot I've seen seems to paint it as a shot-for-shot remake.
EDIT: Except they added 16-player co-op, and I think they might have dropped split-screen. Also, Sunshine and Lollipops mode :D .

aka L4D on crack except 100 times better!

Thanks for posting the pics. Really tells you what you're paying for I literally have had SS2for years and years and never got around to playing it or the first one. It'll be nice to just skip it and play the upadted version. I'm sure they'll make SS2 after this Ive heard nothing but good feedback about the release

These folks know how to give their userbase what they want. $15 on Steam? Yes, please!

16 player co-op sounds like mass insanity.

I can't wait for this. SS was great to pick up for a half hour or hour play when you needed to blow some stuff up and was great for the co-Op support. I have many fond memories of playing it co-op with my housemate in split screen on his projector. I do hope they keep split screen in but so long as it has good co-op and voice or vent support I'll be happy.

No way. There is a point to Left 4 Dead...making it through alive! In Serious Sam there's points where you just have to stand around and fight off the enemies until there were no more and then move on. I guess it's similar to L4D, but it seems in L4D I'm moving forward a lot more than backward. In SS2, I was constantly backpedaling and standing still.

Although I have not used the capability, 16 player co-op is awesome (this was available in SS2). More games should be like that.

Those screens are really nice but badly need AA applied.

Some of them textures like the canyon wall look really detailed, impressive.

Last one's OK, though (bothered me in the first three too, that's why I put it up :) ). Lasers and stencil shadows seem to be missing out, and the lack of TSSAA shows up on those ribcages, but I can't spot any jaggies aside from those.

They're doing Second Encounter HD, then SS3. No mention of a SS2 remake.

It makes sense since SS2 already had a new generation of graphics compared to the previous ones. There's no reason to do a remake of SS2 unless they use something as powerful as Crysis:D

I doubt Croteam would ever do something like that. SS uses their own engine that they made in house. Its the reason its always been so cheap to buy.

I'm going to wait at least until a firm release date is set. For $15 I would have ordered it on the spot, but I'm not quite sure about it right now.

OMG, those ads are legendary.

I missed out on the original Serious Sam, but purchased the Second Encounter and SS2. SS2 was nowhere near as good. Somehow the humor was gone when they introduced "cute" allies, "cute" turrets, "cute" vehicles, and "cute" environments. Cute does not equal funny.

I'm definitely picking this one up.

Patiently waiting this release... nothing better than slaying insane amounts of enemies on a Sunday morning!

The reason its so cheap is because the developer is Croatian. It probably would have cost them more to license the Quake 3 engine than it did for them to create their own - this is not normally the case.

The GDP per capita there is $15,633 compared to $47,440 in the US.
