iPhone 3GS and .ics files

My CEO has a new iPhone and all is working well, besides one issue. If someone sends her a meeting request, it comes across as an .ics file. However, the iPhone won't open it to even show the information. I see Apple's forums littered with people complaining about it, but I see no fixes.

Does anyone know of a solution, or maybe an app that will open the file just to show her the info?

One way I know is to go back to her computer and open the file and load it into her calendar program, then sync the information to the iPhone. I know a sucky solution but it gets the calendar request into the phone.

That works, except when she's travelling sans-laptop. What she's been doing for now is to forward it to her admin, who copies the details into a plain e-mail, and fires it back.

There seems to be a lot of people unhappy about this, and I can see why. I would have considered an iPhone for myself and my wife in Jan when we are due to upgrade, but if this isn't fixed, it is a no go for either of us.
