I was wondering what people are paying for unlimited data plan cost with Verizon wireless. I am looking at their website and i see 44.99$ but i feel like that is insane, like who would pay that for one phone. Is that price for all phones on your plan or just one phone? and does it go down when you have a family plan or if a company gives you a discount through Verizon, ie Microsoft?

Alright lol i started reading on the Droid thread a bit more about the data plan and i think i got it cleared up. Thanks

data plan for phone only is 29.99 if you want to tether then it's 15 more and 5 GB limit on data per mo.

5gb is a limit associated with the broadband cards. Tethered phones are truley unlimited

It is still 5GB limit on smartphone data plans as well. Read the terms and conditions. They state that they assume that anyone who uses more than 5GB a month is using it for purposes specifically forbidden under the terms and that they can then cancel your plan.

EDIT: Snippet from terms on PDA/Smartphone plan

"A person engaged in prohibited uses, continuously for one hour, could typically use 100 to 200 MBs, or, if engaged in prohibited uses for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, could use more than 5 GBs in a month.

For individual use only and not for resale. We reserve the right to protect our network from harm, which may impact legitimate data flows. We reserve the right to limit throughput or amount of data transferred, and to deny or terminate service, without notice, to anyone we believe is using an Data Plan or Feature in any manner prohibited above or whose usage adversely impacts our network or service levels. Anyone using more than 5 GB per line in a given month is presumed to be using the service in a manner prohibited above, and we reserve the right to immediately terminate the service of any such person without notice. We also reserve the right to terminate service upon expiration of Customer Agreement term.

Which is lame, calling something unlimited and then saying 5GB limit is such crap.

Wow that is really stupid... i hate how much Verizon costs, but they have good coverage... so which is more important?? lol

Oh, thanks

Comes in real handy if you travel a lot. We switched all of our road warriors to it(sales and implementation) as the cost for 1 month is what it cost for 1 night in a hotel.

That is a very good point. but im in collage right now and i dont have that much money to spend in the first place lol

I have no idea how someone could use 5GBs legally without tethering. I use my iPhone constantly (youtube, spankwire, google maps, latitude, etc) and I have yet to come even close to 1GB.

I have used well above 5gb on my data card..

I got rid of it and got dsl.. problem solved :)
