Ok, so I've been running a G-Power Lite (lapped) with AS5 for a few years thinking it was pretty decent, until I got my Phenom II X4 940BE. Even with the stock clock of 3.0GHz (1.325v) open case I'd load about 50c. Going to 3.4GHz (1.425v) was loading at 58-60c.

I just got my Xigmatek HDT-S1283 in the mail today, installed it like half hour ago with some IC7 Diamond (damn forgot how hard that stuff is to apply!). This is even before the 2hr cure time that IC7 needs. Open case 3.0GHz load was 41-42c after 10 minutes!!. Jumped it up to 3.4GHz to help curing (thinking more heat will help the IC7 spread) and about 10 more minutes with open case and load was 47c. I now have had the Door on the case for about another 8ish minutes and seeing load going up to 52-53c (52.5c avg). Awesome cheap cooler so far! Now wonder how far I can push this lil old 940BE!! LOL

Just for those wondering, I had IC7 on the G-power Lite before but temps with AS5 seemed better. I'm thinking this was due to application and lack of clamp pressure. I'm also sure the ambient is slightly off due to testing G-Power Lite yesterday night, around this same time.

Dunno if this cooler is still on sale, but picked it up for 26.61 After MIR. +shipping. Newegg

I'm seeing fairly high temps with mine, but the bottom surface was extremely coarse so I applied a lot of goop to it to make sure I had decent coverage. I'll probably pull it off and lap it and apply a little less this time.

Q6600 @ 3.6ghz 1.42v ~ 75-77*c temps. I swear my old Ultima-90 had nearly the same temps(it was lapped along with my cpu though), but the 120mm fan is much quieter then the old 92mm i had.

The s1283 is one of the better cheaper heatsinks. Mine has been nothing but amazing

Yeah it's a good, cheap cooler for c2d's and 45nm quads but it cant handle 65nm quads at all.
