What is the better program? with OCCT at least I can see results or understand them. lol. How do you read the Prime test?

i use both, one then the other

wait... what results? You just run them, they stress your system, and i believe you're done.

Depends whether you would prefer running OCCT in linpack mode for an hour or two, or running p95 for a week.

Run IBT/OCCT in Linpack mode for a few runs then call it a day. Some people take this way to seriously.

linpack (I use the linx gui) seems to be the quickest sign of trouble. Makes the process a lot faster. OCCT can be quick as well. Many times Prime95 takes forever to report an issue.

linpack will heat it up more than anything else. With linx my temps go way higher than with the standard OCCT or Prime tests.

Intel Burn Test and OCCT for me...20 passes or so should do the trick nicely! i do stress prime95, but only in the hopes that I'll discover the next Mersenne Prime and get my 1 MEELION Dolars!

Ran both for 1 hour with i7920 on asrock x58 extreme @ 3.8 and hottest temp was 58*c and 34* idle so I think I am good?

I run OCCT for an hour to see if it looks good initially, once I've hit a spot that I want to stay at, I'll run Prime overnight.

IBT 2.3. Run a 10 pass, standard setting with auto threads. If it passes, run the same test with the custom setting. Set the ram usage at 90% of your total available ram. If it passes both, you're in good shape.

Thanks it was very stable, and just 59c temps. What is too hot for a I7? I`am going to try to get to 4.0 next. lol

Yeah, I decided to do IBT this time on the system, did the 10 passes at max settings, 16 threads. Anything that takes less time, I'm happy with. :)
