Torchlight is available on Steam

I was excited... disappointed they don't have any multiplayer whatsoever though... these games are designed to be played with friends IMO...

The developer said after the release, they are working on a MMO version of the game.

I know, but it's not the same as Diablo, or Titan Quest, or Dungeon Siege... and that's in another year or two.

a serious steal for only 18 dollars. Despite being a singleplayer RPG, it has a lot of replay value.

I mean shit I spent 15 bucks on braid, which was so omg short, but sweet, but still... seriously short. I know I will get a more high quality gameplay out of this than braid.

Titan Quest >>>>>> Other RPG Games!

yes I'm sure it is greater than other RPG games. But not better than Diablo 2.

I played Mythos and it was cool this should be like that and I'll be picking it up in a week.

Personal opinion I know, but I don't think either Diablo 1 or 2 hold a candle to Titan Quest.

Anywho, I may pick this up if it is that cheap, but the no multiplayer was a huge letdown.

But damn, I've got such a back log of games it isn't even funny.

BB:AA, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Trine, plus still have Dead Space, Fallout 3, and a couple others I've had sitting around for a couple months as well.

Whoever said this was a shitty year for games was out of their minds.

or only plays First person shooters.

Every year is a great year for videogame for the person who like all videogames.

If it had multiplayer it woulda been instant buy but noooooooooooooooooooooo.

I really loved playing Dungeon Siege 1 with a group of friends. Another other games that are already out that have similar gameplay and a still active online following?

True dat...plus Dragon's Age, Alpha Protocol, Assassins Creed 2, and possibly a Blizzard release before the end of the year. My wallet is starting to feel lite lately. I really do need several more hours in the day.

Alpha Protocol was delayed until next year, unfortunately.

yeah for 18 I couldn't pass it up. I am definitely itching to play. I miss Mythos.

You HOPE it has a lot of replay value.

Even if the single player campaign doesn't have a lot of replay value to you, the infinite dungeon and player mods should expand your experience significantly, especially since they're releasing the tools they used to make the game so everything is completely modifiable to an extent.

Can't wait to get this downloading today! I pre-purchased this morning but they apparently don't have it available to pre-download?

I purchased this to support the former Blizzard North guys who founded Runic. Not to mention Mat Uleman did the music for TL!? AWESOME !!! Plus you can't go wrong with the price!

it's sad that I have so much homework to do and wont get to play this until like sunday.

So here's the question I have for those who are playing this right now. How does it compare to Titan Quest? I'm halfway through Titan Quest right now, and I've still got the expansion to go through as well. Is this game good enough to give up on TQ and play instead, or is it just more of the same?

This isn't intended to be anywhere near as deep or system demanding. Its also only $20, which admittedly is about what TQ costs but that game is also 3 years old. This one is probably a bit more casual.

Yeah, I agree, a bit more casual. But it's pretty damn fun. I skipped lunch and played this instead and am really enjoying it so far :)

I do have one question, though: Anybody having trouble using the right mouse button to trigger a special attack? It doesn't seem to do anything for me, and I've got something assigned to it. What makes this a little weirder is I tried playing Assassins Creed last weekend and had issues with the right mouse button sometimes not triggering, but it's only these two games, and only in the game. It's a G7 if that matters.

I ended up ordering it, despite the lack of co-op... fortunately me and a few friends have Borderlands to fill that gap.

All I have to say is, I've only played half an hour, but this game is worth the money, no question about it. Very cool graphics, casual yet a ton of fun. My Destroyer was able to dual-wield a sword and a pistol, which is awesome. Range attack and melee when they get close. I need to get off these forums and get my crap done today so I can sit down and actually play it.

Steam supposedly has a demo available. They haven't posted the demo yet on their site. I just got home so I haven't fired it up.

As far as skill trees, I don't know if these are final or not
Destroyer
Vanquisher
Alchemist

Also as open as this game is to modding I wouldn't be surprised to see all new trees and classes out there eventually.

Damn Steam ! , Damn them to hell with their cheap fucking games !!! :D

Since Saturday I have bought

Assassins Creed Dierctors Cut 5.00
Torchlight 19.99
Witcher EE 19.99

Bastards !!! ;)

And I have Dragon Age Origins CE pre ordered ........ and, and, will be pre ordering Mass Effect 2. And people say PC gaming is dying ...... mwuah ha ha ha ha......

All I can say about Torchlight is that after 2 hours of playing it is scratching an itch that hasn't been scratched in a long long time. The first thing that jumped out to me is how polished this game is.

If you are a fan of Diablo, I can't see how you wouldn't love TL. There's something special about it that just feels right. I enjoyed Titan's Quest, but it somehow just felt hollow. TL has that flair of soul to it.

$20, random dungeons, level editor, how can you go wrong?

I definitely agree. I am having a blast in the little time I spent so far just trying it out. I can definitely see myself playing this consistently even if it is just a level a a night.

I think level editor is a little underselling it.;) I would say game editor since it is supposed to be the tools they used to make the game.

Exactly, I don't care for a MMO version of Diablo or TitanQuest style game, I like them the way they were, just a fun hack and slash dungeon crawler with CoOp support to play in a small group with your buddies.

Why should I have to wait two years for that, the core single player game is built and there, just patch in some basic CoOp multiplayer and we be very happy, and the game will sell millions

My sentiments exactly, It is that itch that I've been trying to scratch since my years of Diablo II, Titan Quest was very close but just couldn't do it. Torchlight, on the other hand, gets the job done! Fantastic game, very fun, very well balanced, so far I'm extremely impressed.

This game is looking pretty sweet. I was concerned at first from the low system requirements and small download size, but from what you guys are saying it sounds like I will enjoy this. I love Titan Quest, but have been waiting for something else to come along for a while now. Now I just need to wait until next week when I have my new system built.

Definitely looks to be worth the $20. The developers seem willing to help out the community, too, which is always a plus.
