Hey guys, been having some issues getting Crysis to run on Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

At first i was having issues getting past the black screen upon initial start up. But i cured that problem by running the Crysis.exe in Vista compatibility mode SP2. The issue now is, when I try and change my resolution or any in game options, the game just crashes. It sits there and I have to alt+tab out. Of course windows tells me that Crysis has encountered an issue.

Now ive looking online and people have done what I have to correct the problem. Run it in Vista compatibility mode, Ive updated my VC drivers, Im not sure what to do next. Im fairly new to the 64-bit scene but have never had issues like this. Was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some input on how to fix this? Thank you.

Are you using desktop scaling at all? I was using that and having some major graphics issues in Crysis. I actually turned it off to fix some issues with VMWare and my Crysis problems went away too. Just a suggestion.

Using a nocd/fixed exe? Tried running the Crysis.exe in the Bin32 folder?

Does Crysis display the version i have installed? I have run patches 1.1, 1.2, and 1.2.1

But i am not seeing what version i am playing when I load it up.

I dont believe I am using desktop scaling.

just tried running the .exe from the bin32 and it does the samething when i try to change options.

Legit game to i might add.

I had this exact same problem. The solution is to make sure your desktop is running at 60hz, not 29i. If its set to interlaced then you will have Crysis crash to the desktop when changing any settings and it stays in windowed mode.

Well i changed it over to 60hz, it was running at 59. But when i loaded up Crysis and tried to change settings again it crashed. :-(

There is a problem with Windows 7 always reverting to 59Hz. I've never been able to get it to save settings at 60Hz myself. That shouldn't be the issue with Crysis though. Anything in the log manager?

That is the error I am getting every time it crashes.

"Faulting application name: crysis64.exe, version: 1.1.1.6156, time stamp: 0x47d6d9cf
Faulting module name: MSVCR80.dll, version: 8.0.50727.4927, time stamp: 0x4a27427d
Exception code: 0xc000000d"

Sell it and buy a console? Dude, worst and stupidest suggestion ever.

Anyway, it appears that MSVCR80.dll is related to C++ and also distributed w/ the .net framework. I would suggest installing the latest C++ runtime library, and make sure you have all you .net framework updates from microsoft, and try again.

I was having this issue. I think that it was fixed after patching it and reinstalling.

Ill check to make sure that my version is running when I get home and see if I can remember what I did to make it work. I do remember that I had about an hour of frustration trying to make it work.

Note that I can play this game. The game will start up. But if I change anything in options, is when it crashes.

hmm not sure what your issue is.. I can run both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions of Crysis without any issues, I even run a Crysis trainer with it.

Was that game even made for windows 7? What OS does the game say it supports on it's system requirements?

I think this has to do with Crysis crashing when the video is set to interlaced.

tried XP and Vista compatibility but still crashes when i change graphics settings.

You did re-install Crysis after updating to Windows 7 and start a new game - correct? Make sure you are patched to the latest version also. I just re-installed Crysis Warhead and it ran fine and changed settings fine after updating to 7 Pro 64 bit. I haven't tried the original Crysis yet.

Mine was a clean install of windows 7. Windows was patched before crysis was installed. I've installed all 3 patches. (1.1, 1.2, 1.2.1)

Does crysis though show you that you have 1.2.1 loaded on screen anywhere?

After about an hour of researching... here is what worked for me to make Crysis work for Windows 7 64bit.

1) Install all 3 patches (1.1, 1.2, 1.2.1)

2) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Download that and run it, it will install and re-install any missing DirectX files that may have been overlooked in the process of installing Windows 7.

3) REBOOT, these changes can't happen in your current OS screen... reboot your machine. When you get into Windows... that stupid Game Commander thing should pop up as that is the default setting, you can close that.

4) Go to the Crysis folder.... should be something like C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\ElectronicArts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64

Right-click the icon that says Crysis, and create a desktop shortcut. DO NOT DO THE ICON THAT SAYS CRYSIS64

After all said and done, double click the new shortcut and Crysis will start in windowed mode.... but you should now be able to change all options (Resolution, Full Screen, and all settings) without Crysis crashing.

I did only those 4 steps, I did not do any changes to compatibility or administrator actions.

^ This gives me a chuckle.

Of course the game will work with Windows 7 the game works in Vista so it will work in W7. Its probably not the operating system that is causing the crash.

Reinstall the game, turn off any overclocks. If your using mulitple sticks of RAM take all but one out and run the game.

Also make sure you have all your drivers up to date, Motherboard, Videocard, Soundcard and any Windows updates.
