So far, Windows 7 Pro x64 runs flawlessly except for a minor issue. My computer will not resume from sleep mode so I've disabled it entirely in the interim.

Windows 7 Pro x86 (32bit) here, everything runs fine except on wake from sleep, I get completely disconnected from my wired network and I need to reset my networking adapter in order to get it working again. I have unchecked the power management settings from device manager and I also made sure my computer was running on the "High Performance" power setting; however, it's still going to sleep for some reason and disconnecting me. :(

Not so much a "problem" as a horrid design choice.. They mangled the windowing system, so that now all explorer windows are the same size and display at arbitrary positions. Resizing one resizes all future windows, and position cannot be controlled.

I've been doing some stuff lately that involves using several windows of varying sizes, and it's proving to be quite a headache.

Win 7 Ultimate x64 here - Everything is fantastic!

However, I didn't pay attention and I let Windows update my LAN drivers and lost my internet connection as they didn't work.

Been using it day in and day out since the public beta on my main system, ZERO issues.

Heh, I actually like all my windows being the same size. That was one thing I hated with Windows Vista, I couldn't stand the small windows appearing after I resize them. But I agree with you, they should have a check box, do you want to have windows the same size? or something. It would suck if you have to do a registry hack on a brand new Windows 7 though to fix this problem.

Pretty much the same. I was on the Beta and RC for pretty much the entire year so far, and that helped make this transition 100% painless. It feels the same except that the text on the lower-right corner is gone :D.

Had one crash a few days ago, my first on 7. Some interesting issues with certain applications hanging the shutdown process (including, curiously, Windows Explorer). Nothing too major at this point.

I've also upgraded from Windows 7 RC. I figured there might be one or two differences in the retail, which is why I posted with regards to the retail copy.

The wake from sleep isn't such a big deal for me. Everything else runs smooth as a baby's bottom.
EDIT: Actually, I do have one more gripe, which is not really Microsoft's fault. There are no 64 bit drivers for my aging Logitech MX 518 mouse. Having to use the Windows mouse is alright, but even at the highest speed setting, I still have to lift my mouse off the pad as the cursor doesn't travel as far as I'd like.

That mouse thing doesn't sound right. I'm using a Logitech, umm.. whatever the latest notebook mouse is, with the default MS driver on default Win7 settings. Quickly moving the mouse gets my pointer across a 1920x1200 desktop in less than an inch. Doing it slowly then maybe 1.5 inches,

Win 7 x64 Ultimate Signature edition with Kaspersky 2010 running. Action center shows I have Kaspersky present. System health report says I don't have one or it is not recognized. Unable to get a system rating. System health report says I have an inadequate CPU(C2Q6700), graphic card(GT8800), 4gb memory, 258 of 298gb free space. Needless to say I am not exactly happy about this as it is a drastic failure in regard to my previous Vista Ultimate install,

Eh? What about these?

So far so great, only issue is I cant get WEI to run, minor to say the least. Win7 is so much more responsive then Vista.

No issues here except ASUS has not released any Win 7 drivers for the G50, and a few of them tweak out because the drivers/software only work with Vista or Higher....

So, what crap that wouldn't install, I grabbed those from the G51 and it works great.

I have the same warnings myself, its due to the fact that Windows Experience Index will not run. Im not sure why it wont run, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on overall performance.

Install from xp pro runs to "starting windows" (pretty colored balls)
Then BSOD
Tried from Clean HD
Advisor said I was ok

Its a "drastic failure" because you can't run that pointless test?

I didn't say that it was a "drastic failure", those are your words........it actually is running great and is much better then Vista ever did. I pointed it out that this was my only problem, and a very minor one at that.

Minor thing. Seems to only want to put one of my LAN connections as a Home network, is adamant that no matter what the other is a public one.

Posted previously but no one else was having the issue:

If I put in a DVD, and autoplay, I get no sound 90% of the time. I have to close WMP and restart several times to get sound. Ditto if I right-click the DVD drive and select "play DVD"

If I go start WMP from the menu (rather than right click on DVD drive - play). I get a message saying "media changing" which never clears. But then if I hit DVD on the bottom (or play)...I get playback with sound.

Have only found one other internet person with the same issue but no fixes. Seems specific only to Windows Media Player.

I have had one explorer.exe crash, I think it was from trying to move something from a nonexistent .zip file.

I have had the Personalize window become unresponsive twice. All buttons would be active and light up but clicking any of them, like the exit button, wouldn't do anything.

When I open or close windows there appears to be a slight stutter. It hangs for a split second before stopping the animation. This was always smooth in Vista.

I have multiple errors and warnings in Event Viewer:

Session "Circular Kernel Context Logger" stopped due to the following error: 0xC0000188

Session "ReadyBoot" stopped due to the following error: 0xC0000188

The platform firmware has corrupted memory across the previous system power transition. Please check for updated firmware for your system.

The shadow copies of volume C: were aborted because the shadow copy storage could not grow due to a user imposed limit.

The NVIDIA Display Driver Service service has reported an invalid current state 32.

I have no idea what they mean. Right about now I kind of want Vista back.

WIndows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, clean install

Just upgraded, install went fine, but I'm having issues with my display. On Vista I ran my HDMI through my receiver to the HDMI to the TV. I had no problems, now on 7 I lose the display anytime I switch through the inputs, or when the screen saver turns on. Any suggestions?

World of Warcraft will stop responding now and then. It has been 3 years since i had this problem.

win7 gives me 11033 3dmark 06 score vs 11000 vista 64 sp2 business score.

Its a "drastic failure" because you can't run that pointless test?

Drastic failure in the sense that fairly modern components are deemed inadequate on what is essentially an upgraded Vista. Everything runs fine so far but obviously using the built in system health utilities is completely useless for myself and others getting the same errors.

Just a FYI, I was getting the same errors also. I found that the culprit was Kaspersky not allowing WEI to run properly. I uninstalled KIS 2010 and WEI ran just fine, then reinstalled KIS 2010. So the issue is nothing to do with Win7 but rather Kaspersky. I would also suspect that the error of Kaspersky not being recognized is also a bug of the most current version of KIS 2010.

Thanks for the input. I'll uninstall it and give it a shot.

Have you installed all the latest patches? I remember seeing a "black screen" hotfix that came through a few days ago. Not sure it will fix your problem, but it might help. I will say with my Nvidia card at work, on two screens, every so often one won't come back up right. So could be a driver issue.

I install win7 pro 64bit last night.
It respond much faster then vista 32bit i had. Chrome/Firefox sometimes stop responding i just hat do reload page and it works OK then. There is few glitches here and there that i stomp on, but nothing major. Not yet.

No problems whatsoever on my Dell 1904 laptop.... works better than it ever did with XP or Vista.

I upgraded my Vista Ultimate 64 to Win7 Ultimate 64.. Initially, Win7 would not proceed with upgrade until PerfectDisk 10 was uninstalled. I did that, Still wouldn't proceed.. It also wanted the printer driver to my HP 3030 updated. Did that, still would not proceed with upgrade. Re-booted Vista several times, finally worked. So 1 hour screwing around with uninstallind PerfectDisk and getting new printer drivers to work and 1 hour 10 minutes for Win 7 upgrade to complete.

No sound when clicking on speaker slider bar in system tray, but sound is working ok. Other than that, everything working Ok so far..

My only issue is with my Inspiron 9400 with an X1400 card. I'm having to use Vista video drivers, and whenever the laptop comes out of sleep mode, Windows thinks I have dual monitors and resets my resolution to 1024x768. I have to wait about 5 minutes and try to detect displays to fix it.

Besides that, everything is running beautifully.

Man, am I glad that my 9400 has the 7800GT then.... my laptop comes out of sleep in about 3 seconds. It works unbelievably well.... Vista took like 30 seconds.

Well it has been confirmed my issue is indeed related to Kaspersky. Thanks to Kilroy67 this is apparently a known issue with KIS 9 and they are "hopeful" it will be rectified. For anyone that was part of the Win 7 parties, Kaspersky included 1 year free KIS 9 licensing. Obviously they failed to properly test their software. :D

Just use MSE, forget Kapersky....

With the computer in my sig it seems that last night i put my pc to sleep for the first time. Woke up today to a very SLOW computer and it seemed like my secondary hard drive would not turn back on, after 5 restarts and powering off my pc it almost looked like my secondary hard drive was dead bios wasnt even detecting it. I took it out of my case then back in after trying another drive with v7100 on it and it booted so my pc was fine. Put it back in detected fine and booted fine NO CLUE what that was all about. Dont think ill be using sleep anymore

Well thank you for pointing out the obvious. ;) I have been using Kaspersky for the last 3 years and have NEVER had an issue. I have given MSE a test run and like it but figured I would stick with what I know and trust especially seen as I actually have 200 days left on my paid subscription. But with that said MSE will have to be the winner. I know it is a solid product, I just hate change.

Ironic seen as I just upgraded to Win 7 upon release. Generally I stick with tried and true coughlotsofpatchescough MS until SP 1 comes out for the latest OS offering.

Is it a SATA drive? If yes it is possible the connector on it came loose or was never fully locked in. Also check for a motherboard BIOS update.
