Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

@OfficerM

That is an awesome looking entertainment system, I love the clean lines of that particular furniture, but I cannot see it working as a computer setup. While it would be great from about 10' away as a home theater, using it in a nearfield scenario throws off too many things to make for an immersive environment. While it may be impressively loud and some what immersive, the positioning would not be accurate, the wave from your subs will not develop until it is behind you, having three centers has to be driving the channel of your amp into dangerous ohm loads and most of the action has to sound as if it is following you.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to dog your system, I just think it could be better utilized in an HT setup. You would really need to do some comparisons with a properly set up 5.1 monitor / bookshelf system (designed for nearfield) to experience what I'm talking about.

Thanks.. and that's exactly it... My computer setup doubles as my home theater in my bedroom. As for exact accuracy on the rear placement of the two rear speakers, its a mute point for me. My wife has made it abundantly clear that NO speakers are to be positioned to the rear of our entertainment center (which would place them directly around the front of our headboard of our bed.

As for the Ohm load, I did NOT tie all three speakers into one channel.. OMG! Each speaker is connected to its OWN CHANNEL (hence 5 point 1.. the exception to that is the sub.. I am not running one sub. I am running dual 12" subs. Each sub is powered by its own built in amp). Each of the 5 speakers are being run at 100 watts each. 5 speakers x 100 PER CHANNEL = 500 watts peak power. Each sub is running on its own 250 watt amplifier built into the sub itself.. 2 subs x 250 watts each = 500 watts peak power for a combined total of roughly 1000 watts at peak power. But this isn't a debate on "true" 5.1 imaging.. it's about my setup as it stands now and what I use it for.. As far as I am concerned, I am 100000% happy with the way my setup works for me. Two birds, one stone for a decent computer setup and a decent home theater IN MY BEDROOM (not my loft, not my den, not my living room.. LOL).

I really do appreciate the remarks and if any of you are ever in the SW Fort Worth area, I'd be happy to demo it anytime.. hehe.

Ah-ha. Yes, making the wife happy is paramount over perfect imaging, lol. I retract my statement. :p If you are happy with it, and the wife is happy (or at least content, lol) with it, that is what matters.

Thanks for the clarification on your setup, makes more sense to me now. I'm currently shopping for my next house and hope to build a small HT in my bedroom as well. The setup in my room now is more then adequate, but I really want to separate my "primarily a computer with HT ability" setup from my "primarily an HT with computer ability" setup. That way I can have the monitors in one room and put an HDTV in the bedroom. Having spent a few years installing I'm planning on doing all my speakers in-wall and mounting the HDTV.

Have you considered crawling up into the attic and wiring a couple of in-ceiling speakers for your surrounds? They can be spray painted the same color to help them blend in (if needed), are flush and unobtrusive, and can be wired down the wall to the back of your receiver for that clean look. I used these features to help many husbands sell their wives on the idea in the past. ;) $.02

I would love to crawl into my attic but unfortunately, I live in a two story house. The upstairs loft is directly over my bedroom. Sigh.. totally unable to run any wires that way.. pout. :(

haadij404, how's that Samsung (2693HM) in CounterStrike Source and in games in general?

i dont have really have much experience with other monitors to give you a subjective rating. but playing games like css and l4d are great. i usually get a 2.0kdr so the monitor can't be hampering me in any way lol. there is some back light bleed but i got it for pretty cheap so i dont mind. i would probably look at other monitors if i had to pay the msrp of $500 though. i got it for around $250 from best buy when they were clearing em out.

thanks.

The computer desk is an Ikea Jerker. Unforutunately they stopped making them so best bet would be either craigslist or ebay.

And yes those are KSC75's :D. They are awesome. I also have like 3 pairs for back up. So nice.

Our guild just downed Heroic Anub 25 man lastnight

I have the same mic as well, had headphones.

ya i was doing toc 25 last nite... my friends guild is working on anub heroic.... getting all the pieces of gear with most defense or w/e from even naxx and shit

roflmao, thx Jacob... i'm basically done tho yeah... no more mac stuff for awhile, i have all i need for now

so, whats the point of them? it would be cheaper to just hang up posters of asian girls instead of buy a new mac every time a new wallpaper comes out

lolol, no they all get used.... instead of building a beast macpro, i break up my media work on separate consoles... it's just what i am used to, diff apps on diff systems, isolated workflows etc

I hope you are a chick, otherwise that is really creepy
that's not normally how my rig looks lol... i took the pic for another forums and just reused it, usually my desktops are from interfacelift.... nature in HD

ah, thats right. macs aren't powerful enough to multitask. I see.

they sure look good though since everything matches.

lolol, hates u!

they are powerful enuff... it's just if you wanna have music videos or tv eps running full screen while working in Aperture and making time slices in iMovie, it's nice to have a couple discrete systems

oh, it wasn't you JC... we're buds, knew you were kidding

took away pics before JaYp starts sobbing... must be halloween tomorrow, must have a broom stick shoved somewhere

please put them back up, I didn't mean for that to happen. I remember an earlier post where you said you were thinking of building a gaming pc. can't wait to see it, I bet its awesome.
