Inside the Microsoft Apps Lab

Now this is AWESOME! Microsoft does have a sense of humor at times!

<3 my Touch Pro 2!

So Microsoft is making fun of Apples App Store, but behind the scenes have been trying to lure away app devs from Apple...how contradictory! Kinda funny video but come on...

They are kind of making fun of themselves too so I gave them credit for that one too.

I smiled at the chair joke and the moustache app. It's nice they laugh at themselves! Most CEOs would not allow that. Microsoft's marketing videos have never been stellar, but who really cares?

Nobody noticed the Macintosh boot up sound 8 seconds into it?

I didn't find it funny but I would rather my money go to MS than Apple. Apple "Style" is overpriced.

If you do want all the "failed" apps, im sure youll find them on Apple's app store. I wouldent be suprised at all if the mustash or hand shaker app isent already there by the time I hit post.

haha, I laughed. Decent advert, now lets hope that the new WinMo is more usable than whatever version I've used on my axim x50v.

damn, the video is barely loading....

is anyone else having issues with youtube loading videos at a crawl but all other sites and downloads working fine?

Yea that happens... I found a "workaround"

www.keepvid.com

Just paste the link into that and download the file... you take the youtube URL and add &fmt=18 for .mp4 SD quality... or &fmt=22 for HD movies and get the full 720p .mp4 file.

Downloads at about 500KB/s

My friend had mustache app on his itouch months ago

I laughed so hard, that was awesome. Go MS!

Anyone notice the sundial bit and the clock on the back wall? They didn't get any time right. LOL!!!

That one is a classic. Its also a shame that nobody there learned a damn thing from it. ;)

Cute video, actually predates the first Zune. Microsoft may have learned a lesson here:

My Zune HD box:

Pretty clean and attractive packing actually and a FANTASTIC music device.

The Zune HD is hopefully the first step in the right direction. My only beef is the screen, too small and it doesn't work so well in daylight, but otherwise I think its awesome. The case is great, the interface is very nice, and it is responsive as hell. Sooooo slick.

I'm impressed, MS just really needs to get their ass in gear for the branding and UI for all their products. Its a big machine but somebody up high needs to take the reins and impose a KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) mentality on all their branding and user interfaces. The fact that all of their units are so split up and balkanized is a big thing working against them. Giving Windows 7 over to the Office 2007 lead was a good first step.

If you read around I think that Microsoft is well aware of the problem and hopefully the Zune folks are working on WinMo 7, which from the sounds of it that's what they are doing.

Personally I LOVE the size of the Zune HD. If fits conveniently in a shirt pocket and heck even with the case I got from Best Buy a while back but a bit bigger without adding much weight I think I could deal with.

Turn up the brightness to max if you're having problems with sun light. It's not really any worse than any device that I've used not designed for outdoor use including the iPod when at max brightness.

I'm torn on the size. On the one hand I always like portable devices to be small, sligm and light, the more the better. That said, I think they compromised on the size of the screen a bit too much to achieve that goal. It is smaller than an iPhone and a PSP Go's screen, somewhere between that and the screen for an iPod nano. Good enough for an interface but for me a tad small for viewing movies on. But that's just me, for some people the compromise in order to get it so tiny would be well worth it. Lord knows I'm always making an argument for portable devices, be they cell phones, handheld consoles, notebook computers, etc, to get smaller, slimmer, and lighter. The Zune HD is all of those things (and again, responsive!)

hehe at 2:00 the lady in the background gets zapped for using the other guy's phone.

Wait until it becomes a fantastic phone device.

It was funny but did anyone notice that the guy with the Grey hair sounded a lot like Norm McDonald?
