I believe the black edition is faster that’s why I put it here for all the speed demons. And if i am correct didn’t Seagate have problems with there 1.5 drives awhile back?

Personally I would rather have the 640 Black editions Western Digital.

But thanks for trying to thread cap. it is still a very good deal since they have been around 84 bucks for the last couple weeks that I have been looking.
 
micro center and fry's both are dirty doers with the in store only deal matters
 
This is a decent deal. You can't compare the Samsung 1.5TB. Not everyone has a Fry's nearby and this 640 Black is to be used as a fast OS drive for those that can't afford SSD. The 5400RPM Samsung is a slow(er) drive and used as a secondary storage drive.

I am one of "those" that has the Fry's near them and I would still go with the WD Black for the speed if that is what I was looking for. FWIW, I am pretty sure Fry's does the B&M deals to get you in the door. It is basic marketing to put the hard drive deals (or whatever) in the back of the store so you have to walk by all the $5 DVD bins, candy, and other high margin products.

apples and oranges, people usually buy the two-platter WD 640gb black for performance reasons ;)
 
I have a fry's down the street from my work.
What i really need is a MicroCenter so i can jump on the i7 920 deal.
 
Id take a WD black over some 1.5TB anyways.....

The rebate makes this not as hot imo, zzf had them for the same price back in June with no rebate. Still, I love my 640's in raid 0, and if you buy them, you will too!
 
In for one so far. Trying to get a friend to buy another for me to get two rebates.
 
They're $75 at newegg without rebate and free shipping for those that don't like MIR.
