About the cycles.
I can't be truly sure (meaning the program tells me it's true but it doesn't make sense to me) that the cycle count is accurate. I keep my laptop plugged in a good 90% of the time and usually only run the battery down until it is at 1 minute remaining, then plug it back in until full - I know I haven't done that 700+ times. My battery quote was based on what iStat is telling me about the battery life and the time quote is obviously what I get on my usage, your results will vary depending on usage.

I've owned these model of Macbooks before, they DO run greater than 2GB of RAM...I have realized I won't need my mini dvi -> dvi converter, so I am including that with the system now.
As for more than 2GB of RAM. It was the model available after this that bumped the max over 2GB. This is of the same time frame when MB was limited to 2GB and MBP was limited to 3GB.
