Holy thread revive, batman

So, the Tablet PC that I got for this project died (Thank you Evil Juggalo, it was good while it lasted.) I am in need of a replacement. let me know what you got!

So...I have a "man bathroom" right next to my rec room. And the wife said I can do whatever I want to it in terms of design. So I want to put a laptop on a retractable shelf in the wall that will look like a paper towel dispenser when closed.

So I call out to the [H] to help make my dream "man bathroom" a reality. I'm looking for just a web browsing laptop. Don't need a cd drive, don't need any bells and whistles...

just has to be able to take a win XP image, browse the web, have working audio, keyboard and touchpad. Built in Wi-Fi is a big plus, but not a deal breaker. I'm looking at about 100.00 bucks for an older laptop. PM me or reply here with what you got.

If the deal I get is a good one, I just may put your [H] name on a little plaque near the shelf that says "Donated in Honor of ......"

I'm not at home right now...but can take pictures tonight after the Husker game. Its nothing special right now. But I hope to have ratchet handles for faucet handles, a foldable foot rest on the toilet, LCD TV behind a 2 way mirror over the sink....

lots of ideas, but just getting started on it...

Well I have one in my bedroom for when I want to l want to lay in bed but then I have to carry it to the bathroom. I like your idea better:D

in fact if i had a spare laptop that could take XP, i'd just give it to you in return for pics/plaque.

So far I've gotten one actual offer for a 700mhz Celeron, but I am looking for something in the Ghz if possible. Still want to surf youtube to watch shitty vids while taking a sh...yeah....



And for those wanting pics, here you go. Like I said...no work started yet, just got the ideas.

This first picture is of the towel dispenser on the left that will hide the laptop, the medicine cabinet that will be hollowed out and fitted with an LCD tv behind a two way mirror. What I'd like to do is make a functional cabinet behind the mirror, but also allow the LCD to swing out w/ the mirror so that it can be turned for viewing purposes while making a phone call to Deuce Brown. The towel dispenser was in a box in the attic when we moved in, and upon mounting it on the wall was when the whole idea popped in my head. There has been times where I have taken a TV tray into the crapper so I could put my laptop on it...but there are hygiene issues since it is used a lot else where, not to mention the hassle of moving a TV tray out of the way when the deed is done.

Another shot of the bathroom. The red "smear" on the wall was a paint sample. There is a linoleum type covering over the walls now, and I wanted to see if I needed to remove it or if it would take paint. Since it scratched off easily, I've decided to remove the covering and cover the walls with red Plasteel (plastic material that is stain and water proof). There is a cabinet above the toilet where extra butt wipe and a 2 gallon jug of go-jo sits. This will probably be used to house the older Sony 5.1 receiver I have sitting out in the rec room. That's right...this crapper with have 5.1 surround too.

Outside shot of the door. Yes, I'm a huge KC Chiefs fan (even though we suck hard), and there will be a Chiefs theme of some sort in the bathroom. (Kinda fitting considering the last few season's results)

And finally the throne itself. This will be removed and replaced with a water saving jet model. Notice the cold plumbing lines on the right? Those are the lines that go to the sink and underground sprinkler system (guy that owned the house before did everything himself, and didn't know what the hell he was doing.) I will install and under the sink water heater since I only have cold at the moment. But the toilet will be framed in with arm rests and a foldaway footrest, possibly housing a hot/cold electric cup holder. Plumbing will be rerouted into the wall upon completion.

I live in Omaha and almost want to volunteer my time or a PC for this project. Are you fellow omahan? Let me know and I am sure I can lend a hand on this one. I will say a 100.00 working laptop is not easy to come by, but maybe we could make a makeshift tower out of that dispenser.
 
Out of curiosity, how long do you spend on the throne each day to require such... luxurious surroundings?
 
I had this idea years ago. I actually just had a new bathroom put inside my basement yesterday. I am still considering options such as this one. Good luck on the craptop.

I live about an hour and a half west of Omaha near York. I've got a pretty crappy 700Mhz dell on its way that I should be able to pull the LCD out of for the mirror...but still have my hopes up for a craptop that will do the deed. I did think about throwing desktop parts in it...but I kinda wanted it to be pulled down and people be like "Holy shit....a laptop!"

Dell Inspiron 4100 1 ghz with 256 megs of ram. Works good, but batteries are worn. Has Dlink wireless B PCMCIA card. LMK if you are interested and I can send pics and more stats.
