OCZ 1TB SSD

ComputerWorld.com said:
Computerworld - OCZ Technology Group Inc. said today it will release its Colossus solid-state drive (SSD) in the next couple of weeks, delivering the first 3.5-inch form factor SSD with 1TB of capacity.

The Colossus will be available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities for $300, $650, $1200 and $2200, respectively.

I'll take two raid0 plz. But anyway, If we had to install this on our storage network.... Let's do some quick math here...
48 1TB SSD drives @ $2200 = 105600 BARGAIN.

Hopefully this starts batting down prices on the smaller capacity drives.

That is pretty damn cool. Though it will be weird not to have a mechanical drive humming inside your PC.

the 256 is the most expensive one... oddly enough.

otherwise its around $2.34 per GB with the 1TB one being $2.2 -> timber, prices are falling.

You would still want to have a mecanical drive(rather than a elchepo SSD) for trash/temp and cashefiles. Even more so if you using Firefox that trash your drives more than legal and needed in notime nomatter what type of SSD.

LOL what?

that makes no sense

I think I understand what he is saying, let me respond.

E.R, has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Actually, what he is trying to say is:
I accidentally my whole fleshlight.

But to stay on topic...

I don't see us buying these anytime soon, no matter how much of a performance increase we get.

How bad elchepo SSD aka SSD gen1 really are and get totaly choked with the amount operations ex. Firefox makes i rather have my WD Black 1TB 7200rpm shortstroked to 5GB drive as my tempdrive than a Jmicron controllerbased SSD that gonna be shortlived with Firefox and how it and apps for filesharing trashes the drive 24/7.
Why do people otherwise think that you always should move read/writes of SSD rather than move them to/keep them on it?

I think ER missed out that gen2 drives are already out. The first was affordable one was OCZ Vertex. It doesn't care how many writes you toss at it

Even if they do take it i dont want Firefox to write to mine for nothing in return as mutch of it is just garbage/tempfile/crapwrites, garbage i prefer to keep on rotational drive as it have nothing to do with how fast i feel the system are. This is also one reson why dont like Firefox that mutch more than IE8 witch both has it drawbacks.
Firefox has already killed one early unit of Vertex for me by this unwanted writing and i have no reson to kill another.

I think firefox killed your drive because it had to write what you type on the forums to the drive and the drive said fuck it, I'm done.

:D

Sounds like you have a Firefox problem not a SSD problem;)

Also if you have the updated FW on Vertex its not a problem.
Secondly if you really want to make your computing experience better use a RAMDISK for temps/caches.

Why keep "garbage" off the SSD? To save a few writes? It doesn't matter! Today's flash chips in SSD can last over 30 years with gigabytes of writes PER DAY

Your posts are really hard to read E.R.
Try writing in shorter sentences and use more commas in them to make them more understandable.
:);)
