Motherboard for NORCO RPC-3216

Going forward on the Exchange server ... 140 Exchange mailboxes, 25 used actively? You should get at least two SAS drives for that alone. That sort of random access will beat 7200RPM SATA drives to death, cause your throughput to tank, and cause queues and service times to skyrocket. I really hope you're not actually hosting the eight VMs on this box, just their storage, right?

Beyond that, the Norco case you linked will take Extended ATX / SSI EEB motherboards (which is the biggest standard motherboard form factor out there), but you can only use the first four expansion slots due to the location of the power supply.

This board will fit and give you the PCI-E slots, although it's an Intel chipset and may require taping the SMB pins on the Perc 5 boards to get it to boot.

The Exchange will be Running on the the Servers but have dedicated HDD for Exchange

LOL No i Have a Quad Core with 16GB of Ram and another Server Dual Dual core with 32GB of ram this will only be a ISCSI Device for the ESXi

So What you saying is that only the First 4 slot are avaible then why would I use a server motherboard vs running something smaller Intel or AMD? and I will be using OpenFiler

Well, there are some SLI / Crossfire Micro ATX boards out there. Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136068 on the AMD desktop side.

On the Intel side, you could pick up something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131257 However, it's only $25 cheaper than the Tyan.

There won't be enough decent slots to go around. Pick up the Tyan I first suggested or something comparable...the Tyan has the two X8 slots, two PCI-E Intel Gigabit LAN ports, and is from a reputable server board maker. By the time you spring for a decent NIC for server use, using a desktop motherboard is not going to save you any money.

OK tell me what you think does that look correct for parts this is rough cost

Get the Norco-4220 or some other case to solve your expansion slot problems...

I can go with anything I want but 2 Perc 5/i cards are only 8 per card so that makes 16 HDD slots vs 20 why would you say that vs anything else... Does the 4220 have a SAS backplane plus I think the Case I had picked out is built better ok tell me what you guys think Im up for change

Ok so I have to Make my choice today Do i stay with the case I have or Do I go with a 4220 and get a different Motherboard???
