I have looked everywhere, and if anyone knows something, please do tell, I live in Australia, so what does that mean for me and the time ill be getting it? will I have to wait for Aug 7th? (we are ahead time)

thanks

You will probably wait, and then wait some more as the servers will be hit hard when it is released.

You might be waiting until the weekend, just to let the servers catch up to the demand. The best way to know, is to wait until someone posts on here that it is available on TechNet.

From another Aussie, you can reasonable expect that it won't be available here until Friday, 7th August rather than tomorrow, Thursday 8th August, and I've seen no mention anywhere of what time of day it'll become available, even for a U.S. time zone.

Unless there's been specific announcement to the contrary, Australian availability of Microsoft stuff generally does occur in U.S. time.

There's a very small chance that it might become available tomorrow, Thursday 6th August here, because here the Technet downloads section here is still part of the Microsoft Australia website, But I'm uncertain whether or not the actual downloads conducted link to Australian servers rather than U.S, servers, so I wouldn't bank on it.

Microsoft traditionally goes with a 2PM ET time of day release. As soon as its out there the news will spread like wildfire.

2:39 PM, 6th August ET release in the US would make it a 4:39 AM, 7th August EST release in Australia, if availability is synchronised.

I am banking on issues :p, I just really want it, resisted the RTM torrents so hard. not long now at least.

heh heh....

I won't be getting it until sometime late next week at least, and probably even later than that. I didn't even sign up for a subscription until a coupla evenings ago, it was a 'pay by cheque' application because I refuse to have credit cards, and thus it'll be at least a week before payment is received and processed.

All of which doesn't worry me in the slightest, because even if my subs was already active I wouldn't be trying to download during the initial rush. I'd be waiting until the rush had subsided instead :D

Good point. I would imgine though that Microsoft REALLY wants this to go smoothly as this is show time. 7 HAS TO BE A SMASH HIT WITH LITTLE GOING WRONG. The thing that has impressed me with Microsoft is that they truly understand this and are focused on making it happen. When Microsoft is focused they are absolutely the best in the software business still.

This I can agree with.

To draw an analogy, I enjoy watching the Yankees lose because while being a fan I have observed that they tend to play their absolute best when they are losing and this is what draws out those amazing comebacks. Nothing like a little fire (or a lot) under your ### to spur on competency and eradicate complacency.

I teach at a Comm. College and I believe our MSDNAA will have it tomorrow. I will probably get it and use until my purchased version is out in Oct.

When do ya think Microsoft will release their technet downloads via a private tracker? Seems like that would make sense since they'll never have enough bandwidth/servers to keep up with demand for a new product like this.

I'd know you'd still have to log in to the technet site to get keys and such but for transferring the ISOs it seems like a good idea.

A tracker isn't going to do much better than their servers. After a few hours the demand will start to die down and speeds will improve. Even with a tracker, it's going to take a while to get seeded so that enough peers have enough of the file to improve transfer speeds.
