I am looking for an image gallery similar to the one they have on the joystiq blog, for example take a look at this post, it has the image gallery thumbnails at the bottom, and when you access the gallery it takes you to a deticated page with nothing but the image gallery and advertisements http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/thats-a-wrap-comic-con-2009/

here is what the gallery page looks like http://www.joystiq.com/photos/comic-con-2009-bioshock-2-is-real/2166557/

how would I go about doing this for my blog?

There is a plugin for wordpress that allows it to integrate with Gallery2... not exactly what you're looking for possibly, but a solution.

It allows you to integrate the gallery on a Wordpress Page, which keeps all of your theme styles consistent. If you want a separate, but similar, style for the gallery, create a new Page template in Wordpress just for the gallery.

Sorry but i really don't know much about this stuff, everything I have done to my blog so far I have just researched then copy/past into the right spot lol

What I want is exactly like the Joystiq photo galleries,

If you know how to do this and could help me out that would be great, I would even paypal you some $$$, I looked into Guru.com and most of the people have a minimum project cost of like $200 :(

Joystiq is part of Weblogs, Inc... which includes Engadget, Autoblog, TUAW... and is owned by AOL.

It's probably a custom coded photo gallery.

Hopefully there is something out there that could mimic it... but we're talking about a corporation that spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on design and architecture.

Either use one of the above suggestions, or code something yourself, that's pretty much what your options are.

I was looking into guru.com for the design and stuff I wanted but most places have a $200 project minimum.

The documentation for Wordpress is really good. I would suggest looking into creating custom page templates. Learning the basics for Wordpress will go a long way.
