Hi,

I am having problems with my NIC sometimes not connecting at GigE speeds. Once in a while I will notice file transfers off of my WHS going slow, and I double check the connection speed and see it's only 100mbps.

I am running the desktop system in sig with Vista 64 Ultimate.

I'm connected to a Gigabit Switch with all Cat6 cables, which is connected to a brand new D-Link Wireless N router with Gigabit ports.

Can't figure this one out, any ideas?

Guessing WHS is connected with a wire also? (have no idea whats wrong, i just have a feeling this is going to get asked)

i had similiar issues which were being caused by a faulty cable between the pc and switch.

it would take ages to negeotiate the speed then sometimes be 10 sometimes 100.

swaped the cable and have had no issues since.

I've run across this a few times.....and different things would often fix it.
*Updated drivers for the NIC
*Updating the firmware on the router/switch
*One time on an old Dell server with onboard NIC updating the firmware for the motherboard fixed the issue.

This is my experience as well, plus:

Check the cabling.
Check the termination on both ends.
If the cable is ran through walls, check to make sure it's not near power lines.
