Street Fighter IV PC

Arcade mode is not something to base your prowess off of, play against real people or don't comment on skill.

Not trying to flame - just pointing out that they may as well be two completely seperate games.

Just because I haven't messed with the online play much doesn't mean I haven't played against other humans. Some of us don't live in our parents basements looking for nude Chun-Li and Cammy skins playing the game online in between WoW sessions and actually have friends over to our houses that we can play against. Seriously the elitist attitude of some online gamers is precisely why I don't play hardly anything online anymore. If it isn't elitist snobs its 13 year olds acting like 8 year olds calling everyone "noob" or whatever trying to gain validation for their "l33t" skills.

I'll comment on whatever the hell I like. Skill included. ;)

I need to find another Sagat player to play against. I'm Cheita Corps online.

I just got the game yesterday and am trying to get 1k+ BP before I start messing with the level 6+ CPUs in Arcade mode.

Sagat player here. Kutulu Cult is my GFW name

Played about 20 games last night. Won id say about 15-16 of the matches. Remember losing specifially against another sagat player. He was all over the screen with tiger knees and ultras. Im a bit more of patient player unless i see that that im getting the upper hand then ill be aggressive. I was very close though. Also remember losing another match against a guile player. I hate guile... he's just so squirly to play against...and seems to have a significant amount of power. Before I knew it I was almost out of life.

Don't think I've played you. I'm like 50% vs other Sagat players. My last match last night ended with a dual Tiger Knee double KO. It was awesome.

There was one Sagat player I couldn't touch though. I think his name was Yoo John or something, I friended but I can't remember his exact name for the life of me. Any other characters he played I'd damn near wipe the floor with em but his Sagat is great.

I just need to learn how to punish better. If a person's playing defensively I can't seem to do enough damage when they slip up.

The guy says hes not trying to flame and you come back and flame him. I guess 7.5 years of [H]ness makes it OK.

Call him whatever you like, but he is dead right. The computer is nothing compared to the decent players online. His statement is right, and he even went out of his way to make sure you knew he wasnt trying to flame. Hes not an "elitist" just because he makes a point. I would guess 95% of human vs human matches are online, so... yea. Comparing the computer skill to human skill is sketchy in any game. If believing that makes me l33t, then l33t I am.

Oh and I fully expect to be flamed in return. Im sure I wont be disappointed.

Did I say that the computer was comparable to online players? No, I did not. I wasn't even talking about the computer in the post you quoted. I've played many different people in person which is different than playing the computer. I don't base my skill in the game on how I can beat the computer. That's easy especially when you know the tricks to doing it. I am not sure how I stack up against many of the players online. I've found most of the games to lag quite badly sometimes. I just know how well I stack up against all the other humans I've played. (Better than some certainly, but nothing special.)

That post came across way to harshly. I apologize for that.

Just to add in, if it isn't obvious, is that playing online is different from being on the same machine. There are "Lag Tactics" that work online that you could never get away with face to face.

Yeah I played a few online matches that really sucked due to the lag. One of the reasons I don't like to play online.

On ps3, I never play against anyone with less than 3 bars. I've seen people light up a full 5 bars and still lag though. I swear they throw on massive torrents and just lag their way to victory.

That aside, someone mentioned not being able to stand viper or fuerte. I'm with you on that one.

I usually play sakura, akuma, and chun-li online.

Akuma is so versatile it's amazing, people always underestimate sakura's shoryuken, and chun-li can kick you in the back of the head. I love it.

I don't deny that some of the characters are quite effective if you can use them. El Fuerte is one of them. C.Viper can be effective too. I just don't like the characters myself. El Fuerte is just annoying as hell. I just got my ass handed to me by an El Fuerte but then again I was using Zangief which is not one of my better characters to use. I can't play Chun-Li very well but I'm ok with Sakura. Akuma I've not used on line yet.

I rarely play online due to the fact that Viper really does get owned hard if there is any lag.. it seems like the PC version skips a few frames too, so its hard for me to link some of the more advanced combo's online. Offline I don't see a problem at all. Local players that I play online are usually pretty good though.

I'd like to know too... but I figure it sold pretty decently.. probably a "success" for fighters on the PC I'd assume.

I've ordered a TE stick, but I tried a little on my cousin's PC of SFIV.

I wasn't able to pull off any combos using keyboard, anyone else who has know how until I get my stick?

You need to be a little more specific, "combo" is a very general term and there are many different types of ways of pulling off combos in the game. Tell us exactly what move(s) you are trying, and with which character.

If you mean canceling, then I posted a small explanation here.

I meant like the EX Moves like Ryu's Hadouken.
Usually to perform an EX version of a move you press two punch (or kick) buttons instead of one.

So for example to perform an EX fireball with Ryu you would do D,DF,F, (P+P), where P+P was any two punch buttons pressed simultaneously.

Note that EX moves require meter (the blue bar) to use, if you don't have enough meter then the normal version of the move will usually occur.

The "network bar" is a bit too harsh, as long as there are 2 bars or more, it won't lag, at least in my experience (I don't live in the US, so it's hard to find any player with lower latency, but I was surprised to see how well the game performs online).

Of course, some people out there just kick me as soon as they see 2-3 bars, but I can't blame them.

2 to 3 bars works fine for me generally speaking. However occasionally it will still stutter slightly from time to time. That's not always the case and for all I know the other guy's computer sucks.

Is it me or is g2 just as dead as day 1 when I was there? I came back to play it after 2 weeks of inactivity and I can still barely find any games. Ranked is just bleh.

using wsad for moving and keypad 789 (punch) 456 (kick) has worked for me.

I can make almost every special except for Zangief's screw pile diver.

As bad as the game is with a d-pad I can't imagine how hard it is with a keyboard. I think 360 controllers work out of the box with PCs... At the very least puck up a cheap wired controller

I play very well with the dpad, often times i oull off moves WAY faster. Madcatz fight pad by the way.

Actually, I've tried it, and the keyboard actually works very well for some characters. Just don't try playing as Zangief with your keyboard though.

I can't imagine trying to pull off some of his moves with a keyboard. It is hard enough to do on a gamepad much less a keyboard. Zangief really needs to be used with an arcade stick of some kind I think.

I am entering a tournament tommorrow and I need someone to practice with tonite. Any Boxer, Bison, Vega, Chun Li and Cammy.

Sigh, I'd love to play you but I got some stuff to do, when are you on usually?

I only play c. viper though, havent played in over a month pretty much.

Good luck with your tournament, I love going to tourneys.

im laughing at the fact on using a keyboard. Seems a bit ghetto IMO.
A controller costs next to nothing.

I play on a fightstick. Best way of playing
