Dropped by my local BB, (Rochester NY,) saw this on the shelf priced at $149 on clearance, (orig $299... yea...right....) took it up to the register and it rang up at $124... not bad for a spare.

As always with BB YMMV greatly; my store had about 3 left give or take.

ps even though model # is a 192 core, mine was a 216 in the box if it helps.

As an update I just cracked the box and a little extra joy was in there; yup, it's a core 216 'MaxCore'. Makes the price just a bit sweeter; though I'm sure it's a crap shoot.

That's the card that was inside, but the box was the non 'max' version, (192 sp's).

Ok....?

So I assume that I more than likely (again under the assumption the price is YMMV) should be able to use the inventory check to see local stock and try my luck?

Hard to say; because it's clearance I'm willing to bet they don't have it on their site anymore, (I didn't see it there at least.) The only one I saw was the MaxCore version. but in-store they had the card.

Based on the serial number this is what they were selling BFG 260GTX OC

Based on what I pulled out of the box I got this

Interesting thing of note; when I opened up the anti-static bag there were 2 yellow stickers on the bag; one had already been ripped off, the second was the one that sealed the card in. The box was shrinkwrapped so I don't think it was someone from BB... dunno though, I'm hoping to be able to fire it up this weekend and see what's what with it.

Hmmm, that sounds an awful lot like an open boxed item, or possibly someone returning a refurbished unit as new...still though, you lucked out if it works.

Based on this, than I wouldn't just say extremely YMMV...but a one change thing.

I am going to swing by tomorrow anyway to PM a game, so I'll check it out.

Another one of those mystery best buy deals where it's at only one store.

This was at a ton of stores not just 1, they had it at 2 of the 3 toledo ohio stores back on my old thread about it, but its definitely a ymmv deal.

OP: Is that the Henrietta or Greece store? I might have to take a drive out.

Finally another person from my area. Sucks to be us living here in NW ohio.

;-)

Little Tip: I beleive almost all of the gtx 260's best buy carries are of the 216 sp variety.... even though the box says 192 sp.....

I purchased mine from best buy (albeit about 6 months ago) for about $100 more...

It's a nice little piece of hardware (and I got to return a DOA one right back to the store)....

Checked my local store in GA, had a 216 max core....$219.99. I had an associate check for me, even though she seemed pissed that I asked her too and it was indeed the correct price.

All the prices on cards at my local store are higher than the online price varying from $10 to as much as $40, totally nuts imo.

Grats to those that luck out on deals at their local stores, I'm never that lucky, but then I buy about 99% of everything online anyway pc/tv/receiver/bluray/dvd/game related.

Akron, Ohio (Chapel Hill area) had 1, had employee scan it came up as 199.99.

Buddy checked the north canton store same deal there.

All Best Buy's in the Saint Louis, MO area are @ $199.99. There are 3 GTX 285's at the Columbia, MO (#602) store for $314.99.
