Are you a 1st-gen buyer or waiter?

Do you buy 1st-generation Apple products (like IPods/IPhone), or always wait around?

I guess I bought the first-gen Intel MacBook when they were out, I didn't really put much thought into it though.

I have the first model of Unibody (as there have only been two total).

I bought all of the iPhones day 1 so far.

I had a 3rd gen iPod then 4th gen iPod, then a 1st gen Nano, and then went to the iPhone product line, but have recently bought a 6th gen 120gb Classic for use in my car.

They did get better over time, but anytime I've had an issue they've bent over backwards to make it right. I had a few problems with my BlackBook with the optical drive giving out, they replaced the machine because when it came back to me the trackpad made a weird metallic noise that wasn't characteristic of it.

When the Store messed up my girlfriends White MacBook they replaced *both* of our machines with the new Unibody top of the line MacBook's, and I turned that around and got a Pro, but they made sure that no matter what we both got upgraded and were happy with the fixes and even gave us complimentary AppleCare with each machine and all the replacement adapters I used for outputting video with the machines.

They've *really* proven themselves in service by replacing my iPhone 3g and my girlfriends 3g as well for cracks every now and then and weird screen issues.

I feel that QC could be better, but they're more than happy to replace them if you're unhappy for whatever reason, so in the end it doesn't really matter, or maybe I'm just desensitized to it? hmm.

Either way, I've always loved my Apple products despite some of the hiccups I've had

I don't buy apple stuff. I am planning on it, but the price for the macbooks vs a PC notebook make the leap a little wider than I am comfortable with.

However an iPhone is in the works.

Let's see I bought my iBook in it's last generation before the MacBooks then I bought the first gen iPhone on the day of release and had no problems with it. Now on the iPhone 3GS, love it but has much of the same from the first gen.

The iPhone is the only "Apple stuff" that I have personally bought. And I waited until the 3G came out, and even then I waited until the masses had left the stores before I decided to get one.

I wait until it's cheap. I barely got a 1st gen iPhone last week. :p It's the same with all the Macs I've bought, although I may pay a little more than usual to upgrade my slow Intel Mac.

Need an option that says "wait until 2nd gen released then buy 1st gen ultra-cheap on eBay"

As for 1st Gen only Nano 2GB and Shuffle 512Mb(?) but for compus so far I have not been able to buy 1st Gen but it doesn't matter. I found my LC II randomly and missed using that in elementary school and as for my G3 B&W I wanted to get an iMac new at one point but G3 is more upgradeable so I got that used of course only a few years ago and with a little tinkering now and again its one of my favorites.

I'll finally get a new Mac one of these days but I probably won't get 1st Gen only did that for the iPods without realizing it.

I usually like to wait a little bit on everything I buy. Being the first out there to own something is cool, but generally it's always worth waiting a little while.

Generally speaking I like waiting for a second gen product. That being said I started using OS 10 when it first came out.

Skipped the first ibook(the toilet seat) and got a 600mhz one when they went to the second hardware line. Ended up getting rid of it and getting an 800mhz down the road. Did the same with the g3 power books. Waited for the lombard and then got a pismo. For the g4 notebooks I waited for the 1 ghz 12 inch g4. Need access to an evdo card and don't want a notebook bigger than 14 inches so right now apple doesn't have a solution for me. If they would add a card slot to the 13 inch macbook pro I'd pick one up. Don't want to use a usb adapter and would prefer an internal card.

Right now I have a 1.83 core2 mini I use to keep up with the OS so I can work on clients apples when needed.

I find no need to be on the "cutting edge" so I usually buy last years top of line hardware or whatever. I just sold my 1G iTouch and moved to a 2G. But it was more of a space/storage upgrade for me.

It's worth it for the OS. My Macbook was my first Apple and since then, my brother, sister, mum, ex-girlfriend...etc have all switched, with no regrets. Well, there are with the ex, but unrelated to the OS or computer.
