Due to heat and an outlandish power bill .. I will be reduced to running a single GPU client on the 320mb 8800GTS that I won here to keep my commitment to use this card for folding ... :(

I don't don't produce much anyways ... so not much of a loss to the [H]orde per say .. but still .. depressing none the less for me :p

I know what you mean. I am giving hard consideration to selling a few of my GTX260's to help reduce heat and power bill. If I do then there will certainly be some good deals to be had :)

I can certainly understand the heat and electric bill, but hang in there and contribute what you can when you can. As long as we're contributing something, then we're all working together for the potential cure.

been folding on my main vidcard of which is an 8800GTS 640mb'r .. runs pertty hot and doesn't produce much compared to the newer cards that are out now ..I wish I could afford to snag one of those bad boys from yuh if you decide to sell a few of them .. then I'd run the GPU client on my main box again .. :(

Living room seems to be substantially cooler now tho :p
 
well if anyone wants me to run a card for them.. id be more then willing to since i have 3 sli motherboards that are not in use right now due to not having any gfx cards for them.. :p lol who says running 2 gpu's on an HTPC is dumb.. :p


er wait.. usually i say that.. but i can always make an exception to my own rule.. lol

LOL, I love that title brother/sister ThreeDee :p On the freakin' power bill thing, I think most of us have a concern about the power bill, especially those of us that are forced to use ACing to survive the horrible heat waves (and of course, those of us that don't own the power company, aren't mega rich or have someone else pay the bill) :rolleyes:

As far as your production goes, IMO it's not so much the amount of pernts you get (of course the more the better), it's whether you are consistant or not. All anyone can do is fold with what they have. Do their folding with peace of mind and not financially jepardize their family or loved ones (in other words not goin' broke folding) :p

I think a lot of peeps get their shorts in a twist when they don't see immediate results. What we are doing is HELPING medical science find cures. Look at it this way, it takes a while for some people to get medical attention, it takes a while to diagnose cancer , it takes a while for the peep to realize the seriousness of cancer (in other words the peeps gets sick enough to see a doctor) so it might take a while to find a cure for it. You can "take it to the bank" with all of us working together we'll find that elusive cure (medical professionals, computer peeps and all those sacrificial chickens) :)

In the above jibberish I used cancer constantly, but DCing projects are on the hunt for a cure for ALL diseases, not just cancer. I used cancer as a common example because it has effected me personnally. (my Mom) :mad:
 
Heat is the bane of folding :(

It has been 100+ for days here (Fort Worth, TX) with the occassional day where it drops to mid to high 90's. We have to triple our electricity budget during the summers. My wife just doesn't like heat so we keep the AC down to 73. We budget for it so we don't get any nasty surprises like our first year here.

I sure wish I had the money to grab that from yuh ..but all I got is stuff for trade unfortunately

I had to shut down 2/3 of my garden due to a $215 power bill, the ac trying to fight 3 rigs is just too much...Ill be back when the heat subsides though...

Wish mine was that low. My current bill for last months usage is nearly $400.
 
I just fired up a second 4890 on my HTPC a couple weeks ago. We shall see what kind of power bill that entails. Sewer problems in my basement and me being out of town every weekend has helped keep the AC off quite a bit. The AC draws icky air out of the basement so I either smell nasty wet musty stuff or sweat until I smell worse just by myself. I'm interested to see how much my power bill will be.
