this isn't my computer, so I cannot get instant answers. I have done a quick google of it, and didn't find any solutions to the problem.

the blue light on my friends 680i (evga rev. a1) mobo flashes (the one that's solid when it gets a steady stream of power).

what he did.

He got a new battery back up, and plugged it in that way. that is when the problem started. He tried plugging it in normally, and the problem consisted. (normal = directly to the wall)

Also, he's got a tpt 650w, 2gb of corsair ram, 8800gtx (i think) e6700

I suggested trying a new PSU, since to me it seems as if he's not getting a steady stream of power, or atleast clean power...

what are your thoughts? sorry for the lack of info in the first post

Pull the battery and leave the CMOS reset jumper in the reset position for an hour or two. Take out all but one stick of RAM. Press down on the BIOS chip itself (they can come partially unseated). Then try to boot the board again.

I used to have a board that'd pull this kind of crap from time to time. Eventually RMAed then sold it.

Sorry for the abreviation. yeah, it's a true power trio.

just got home, and sent him the message to do that. thanks.
