I wish the mouse was more precise, I don't like how the reticule will still move when you stop moving the mouse.

do you mean the intentional slight movement when using the sights? if so i love it. when i aim a gun irl, no matter how hard i try to still my movement there's always some there.

Adjust your x / y mouse sensitivity in the game options, try to fire from prone position and keep right mouse button pressed so you can hold your breath when needed to be more accurate

No, just normal mouse movement.

I have the sensitivity almost all the way down, its still there. There is no difference in what I'm talking about even if I'm prone.

I feel like it would be hard to describe without some of you guys chalking it up to the "realism"... :p

Perhaps a "Run and Gun" mode would work well, where (four W's) the gameplay could be more Battlefieldesque. This could make small maps and close-quarters combat more exciting. Only on small maps, for those days when I feel like a jittery crack addict.

Playing the demo. Loving it, but sucking.

Hitting a guy from 200m+ away is difficult. Especially when you think holding down the right mouse button is just squinting (it's breath control).

I like how they gave the mission making wizard a gimped editor, so you can add stuff and get a feel for some of the vehicles and such.

I just can't aim. Was never this bad in the ARMA demo or OFP.

I can be prone, 20m from a stationary target, holding my breath with the reticule aimed directly at the center of the targets chest, squeeze off one round and miss....

Not exactly sure I'm at fault there... :p

Mightg be fade kicking in...

In ARMA that was one of the main symptoms of FAde, the shooting and having the bullet be way off/not where it should be an dthings.

I played the campaign some more today. All I can say is they've made the same mistake as with ARMA1: absolutely NO polish! They give me a UAV to use, ok cool, but the UAV crashes before I get to use it. The scripts don't trigger half the time. In the next mission I have to ride a bike with my squad mates, so they make "woohoo!" noises as if they're right next to me but actually they are half a mile away busy negotiating a tree at 2mph. Then I get to the next mission... again I get a UAV. I try to use it. It circles around for about 5 minutes and then it crashes into a tree. Then I go to town and my character is screaming about an exploding house, but there is no house in site; the script triggered prematurely. Then my squadmates start calling out targets half a mile away THROUGH A MOUNTAIN. Land is no obstacle to them it seems... And all the while I'm getting about 20 fps, no matter what settings I use. It's a good thing I haven't actually encountered combat yet or I'd be dead. How does shit like this even get through beta testing?

Agreed. I haven't noticed anything in the game that seems like any effort was put forth to polish it. (yet)

Going back and forth with this and AA3 for most bugs in a recent game.

Can't even launch the game WTF  It crashes as soon as I double clikc the game icon on my desktop, and same from the Steam older

Try verifying the game cache with steam yet?

Right click on the game in Steam, go to properties, local tab, then verify game integrity.

Can anyone preload the game on steam yet? Also, does anyone know what OS the game runs best under?

Thanks that worked :)

Game looks cool, I tried it all cranked up to very high settings at 2560x1600, it was playable, felt like 20fps, but looked cool.

Controls are really funky, hard to enter to vehicle and start driving of ? Couldn't even make the chopper fly ? And whats with the quick mouse movement and motion blur, holy puke

Yea, the controls are completely asinine. Alot of stuff like that feels like it was designed by 5th graders and never tested before being packaged and sold.

Still, its fun.

XP or Windows 7. the game has been stable for me under Vista 64bit and Widows 7 64bit, but i got a big performance bump from going to Windows7.

Well, I tried ARMA 2 after all the hype here and I have to say i'm really dissapointed. The game is incredibly broken. When I do the First Aid Training and I put the guy on my shoulders and carry him, he literally slowly slides down my body onto the ground. The whole body glitches through my body. I also can not move when I pick him up. When he slides through me, I am stuck in that spot. Also, when I go to the obstacle course, all the characters there are constantly grabbing their knees and going up and down. Constantly repeating. I restarted the training 2 times at this point, and another time one of the guys was doing pushups, and the other was doing the same up and down repeating motion.

And also, the character details just do not look like the screenshots at all that I have seen. The faces look mediocre, and when the lips move it looks like the mouth is opening and closing really fast like pac-man in fast forward. It seems glitchy.

And when I go to where the rocket launchers are and I am supposed to pick up a different rocket launcher after the first one, it does not show up in the crate. And, when I am in that training ground all of a sudden I start getting shot at. Even the guy who is there training me has gone prone and the people from the town over I guess are shooting at me which is very weird since it's a TRAINING mission. And also, when I go to the town I get shot and apparantly i'm wounded but there's no clear indication other than when I am standing and try to move further the character automatically goes into a prone position which is incredibly fucking annoying, and I have no idea how to heal myself.

And, the movement is incredibly robot-like. I know they tried to make it human-like, but they failed miserably imo. The best game that has reproduced human movement in first person is Killzone 2.

Also, the graphics aren't anywhere near what I saw on the screenshots. Unless those are running DX10 on Vista. I have the graphics pumped all the way up. Except for Terrain Detail which actually has no higher option than "Normal." This just does not seem like the same game that I saw all the screenshots and awesome videos and screenshots for. Oh well... I got plenty of other games to play.

The movement is for 'realism', try to hold any weapon - even a pistol completely still. Unless you are prone and the weapon is supported you are going to get movement. Fact of life.

Been playing all day literally, since I woke up until not too long ago. Girlfriend even had to call and told me I missed one of her phone calls and bitched me out. Must be good. :D

I like how the demo mission wizard\maker functionality isn't super gimped but gimped barely enough to make you want to buy the game.

What is really confusing to me as someone who would probably be a hardcore sim gamer, I don't mind turning on 3rd person for the people who want to play with it, Friendy TAG, or crosshairs (although I do appreciate the lack of crosshairs). The game is still just as fun with these "arcade" settings on and the enemy A.I at 0.70 skill level still kick our asses.

In coop it seems like there are two kinds of games. The ones where everyone works together and it melds and the gameplay is intense and feels great. You're just one cog in the machine, even if you're squadleader (making a server, I typically am). I can't aim as well as I could in OFP so I'm not a sort of superman against the AI anymore. I don't think anyone can really aim that well unless it's with the SVD. Even still, there is a bullet-to- target lag (really got to lead them). So it's important that everyone meshes together.

The biggest problem with the A.I is that they seem to coordinate on a grand scheme. Like the entire OPFOR side knows whatever one OPFOR squad knows. Or maybe it's just the triggers and activations in the demo coop mission wizard. The AI have superior "eyesight" when it comes to going over a grassy hill and having your eyes raped out of their sockets with green and brown. Camouflage really does work in this game.

If there is one thing I like me, is a good cooperative game. STILL have to learn how to aim though, but I'm getting better. M4 with aimpoint isn't as bad as M16A2 with iron sights. Everyone who joins my server takes it light heartedly (the game) or does their own thing. Only one really bossy guy, but he was a real military grunt and he wanted to take charge and win. The only thing defeating him was a UAZ w/ 12.7mm HMG shooting him out of the UH-60. :D

Haven't experienced any sync issues or too much MP lag which was a huge issue for OFP/ARMA. Desync sucked.

The greatest feeling in this game, for me, is being under fire from multiple targets and being behind a building, peeking out, getting shot or almost shot and having your machine gunner suppress the enemy and having a corpsman run over, risk his neck, and successfully heal you to keep the fighting going on another 10 minutes. I love it.

You fail HORRIBLY using the word 'not'

But sometimes errors are fun to say :)

Something like this is better ? or not ? :D

Do not is the last version with the demo ?

 I forgot my english lenguage of my studen period

Exact same thing happened to me man. TBH I think the game is broken too. I experienced alot of the same things you are getting. I am glad I tried the demo first.
Its worth $30 to me, but not quite $50 they are asking for as of now.

I have gotten less bugs out of AA3 then this. I guess Ill wait until they fix everything. No use in trying to enjoy it when it is really a pain.

Holy shit, you are capable of controlling outer body experiences?

Can you teach me that, would be so cool to have that ability.

I did it once. I got up off the couch too quick and I swear I looked down to see myself still sitting down. Freaked me out so much that I fell back down into my body with a quickness. Was weird.

Once again, that movement isn't want I'm talking about. When you move the mouse, there is a lag (small one) for how quickly the reticule reacts and follows your hand movement. And when you stop moving your hand, the reticule slows down instead of stopping dead with your hand. Makes it incredibly hard to aim quickly. And its not my video card... Playing at 640x480 with every setting on low and there is no difference.

Again, i'm not talking about the movement you get when you are sitting still, plenty of FPS games have that....

And why the fuck do aI randomly go into 3rd person mode??? How the hell do I go back to first person?!?

Its amazingly laughable at how many bugs are in this game...

Played the demo some last night, with the everything set to "normal" and 100% fillrate I'm averaging about 25-30 fps according to fraps at 1680x1050. I thought there was no way I'd be able to run the game after reading about all these sli/crossfire i7 rigs getting mediocre performance.

I'm really enjoying it so far, haven't run into any bugs either. Full version needs to unlock on steam so I can start downloading while I'm at work.

Edit: Steam says the game will unlock in 12 hours. Why set a release date and not unlock it untill the days almost over?

Good question, I just discovered the same, thought I could get it moving before I leave for work. Guess I'll wait until tonight? Fucking lame.

I will need to play with the demo some more before decing to purchase but it seems okay, controls are a bit odd and will take a bit of getting used to and customising but overall not too bad on first appearances.

Will need crossfire support though, prerably perfect scaling as you could really crank the settings I feel.

19x12 most things max except low anti-aliasing with 2000m view distance was dipping to the teens in woods.

Also is anyone else finding that you need the gamma all the way down or you get blinded by the horizon?

I played the demo for about 30 mins. It seems to run sort of janky. I put most settings to high and the framerate seems pretty good but it seems like it's skipping 5 frames or something every few seconds. It just doesn't feel right. I'll mess around with the settings more tonight.

most ppl here need to get rid of their e-penis and understand that high/very settings in this game are for "future hardware" only !! heck i even play with terrain detail set to very low in order to remove grass and post proscessing effects disabled so there's no HDR DoF and motion blur to restrain my already bad visibility due to crappy AA support ( i got that disabled too since it can't get rid of all jaggies no matter the setting )

Here's my settings http://img524.imageshack.us/i/armasettings.jpg/ http://img395.imageshack.us/i/benchmark.jpg/ ok I agree it looks like crap with all those jaggies (this is not 1999 anymore), but there are many deeper flaws in this game that make want to unistall the demo and go back to original OFP or ArmA 1 with cold war rearmed mod

"terrible performance" for me is essentially not being able to play the game. View Distance was 2000 everything set to medium and it was stil unplayable for me. I might be getting 30fps or more. But it still feels really slugish.

After playing games at over 100fps maxed usually I just can't do it. I didn't play Crysis for the same reason.

These games always feel sluggish but are normally perfectly acceptable to play with 30fps. I normally want lots of frames in games but ARMA/OFP you really don't need it. It if goes 30fps all the time, it should be perfectly smooth and playable.

With the machine in my signature, will stepping up to a 4870 allow me to max this out or close to it at 1680x1050?
